I recently moved into a new house. The guy that lived here before had the entire house wired for sound. He left these Bose speakers that are installed in the walls and ceilings ..they are all over ,like 18 of them..

So anyway my ? is ...What would I need to hook these speakers up ? I would guess that there is some kind of switching box I could use ? It would be cool to set up zones but I don't know what I would need ?

sounds like you need something to hook all these speakers up to... check bose online and see what kind of system those speaker might go to and then find something comparable, but yeah it sounds like you'll need some kind of switchbox or big @ss reciever that all those speakers can hook up to...

    good luck!

    DAROckets,

I would suggest you take rockHEAD's advice and get in touch with Bose or a Bose dealer.

Are the ceiling speakers similar to the one in the middle picture?

Have you been in your attic to see the speakers from the back?

You might be able to use another brand of receiver to drive the speakers, but probably wouldn't have the multiroom control that you seek.

Aren't Bose speakers limited in their compatability with recievers of a different brand? As in, I think Bose speakers only work with a Bose reciever.

I'd need a wee more info before really being able to help you. Do the speakers have wire connected to them? If you can get to the speakers, do they have binding posts (2 knobs, red and black, on the back of the speakers where wire is connected)? If there is wire, what kind of connection is on the end? Are there two connectors on the wire? Is the wire exposed on the end instead? As Johnny 5 said, "Need more input."

Taking what ROckets03 said a little further, if what you have are the itty bitty cube speakers, they're a part of the Bose Lifestyle system and would do you no good without the "special" Bose receiver.

Although I despise Dr. Amar Bose, his company, and most importantly, his marketing department, I'm willing to put my animosity aside to help a fellow BBS member out... :)
