Stephen King is trying to set a precedent. He is bypassing publishing companys by having his latest book online (with no involvement from them). Kinda like what Pearl Jam was trying to do with ticketmaster. His book is online in 3 installments. He is using the "Honesty" system. He asks that you pay $1 for each insallment. The first insallment of the book is online now. If the "Honesty" system works, he will have the next 2 installments in the coming months. If it doesn't work, he pulls it. I think it is an awesome idea and hope it works. The name or the online book is "The Plant" http://www.stephenking.com check it out. ------------------ "Don't think twice, its allright"
Thought this thread was going to be about a relation of Stacey King's who was now in College and the rockets should draft, pity, it would have been much better than what was actually posted ------------------ Stuff BBS, the Rockets and you guys It's all Clippers these days, come join the bandwagon and visit http://www.ClippersCity.net
There's more to life than basketball smeg. (not much more though ) Having gotten so sick of these Mobley is leaving threads (which I am guilty of believing also) I have actually looked around the internet for the first time in a while. ------------------ "Don't think twice, its allright"
Arvo Bobbo, I agree bob, all i have posted all day is stupid replys in an attempt to side track the mobley flooders. Also see my travel thread as proof of life outside of bball. I fight that battle constantly in life due to my excess playing, coaching, watching, listening and chatting and really work hard to make sure i do some other non-bball (and thesis) activities in my life. Actually i think the king concept is very interesting and if it worked could really screw with publishing companys, pity I'm not into Steven King. I limited my stupid escapism reading to clancy. Arvo smeg, Clancy is great too. As long as you have some "hobbies" outside of bball you will be ok. ------------------ "Don't think twice, its allright"
Arvo, boneheads. Looks like this is our own thread... woo hoo! I thought Stacey King was that center that came out of college a few years ago. Played for the Bulls, didn't he? Yeah, that's it... either way, nice story about the little rodent of horror. ------------------ Just shut up and post
geez you seem at your witty best today Dr Conehead, especially with all your grandma comments. I will have to check with Boob, but we might let you join our thread. ------------------ Stuff BBS, the Rockets and you guys It's all Clippers these days, come join the bandwagon and visit http://www.ClippersCity.net
I plant my Crisco flag in this thread. I claim this thread for Spain. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
Cisco you can join if you give us a few of the coupons for women, they sound like fun and good value for money. ------------------ Stuff BBS, the Rockets and you guys It's all Clippers these days, come join the bandwagon and visit http://www.ClippersCity.net
I don't know if I have any more of those coupons, but I might be able to hook you up with some albino slaves for a cheap price. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
Here is a question, do you put Stephen King on the list of all time great writers? The Few pieces I have read put him near the top. I'm not well read, but I know good writing when I see it. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
I'm not well read, but I know good writing when I see it. Isn't that, like, a contradiction? ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel-boy.
If you know good writing then you would know that Stephen King shouldnt be on the list of all-time great writers. He writes books for mass audiences, for publicity. He sells a lot of high-quality interesting reads. But he is not a GREAT writer, and not one of the bests. That would be like saying Danielle Steel is one of the best writers ever. ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. Not screaming like the passengers in the back seat!
What are your favorite Stephen King books? I like his non-horror stories over his horror stories. My favorites are Different Seasons and The Green Mile. ------------------ I will demonstrate my clutchness this November.
I really liked the "Dragon's Eye" which is more of a midevil suspense thriller. It is one of my all-time favorites. I also liked a short story that he wrote from the book "Skeleton Crew". The name of the story was called "The Mist". He never completed it and I would have loved to find out what happened but I guess it adds to the value so the reader can come up with your own ending. ------------------ Houston Rockets Forever!! In Rudy We Trust
I disagree. He has depth. And he can make you feel it. Writing has always been about getting your work to the masses. Almost all great writers have that in mind when they write. That is why they disguise their values in a story. So people will read what they have to say. I think to dismiss King on that alone is a mistake. I'm not saying you can't dismiss him for whatever reason you choose, but I think he's on the borderline of greatness. Whatever that is. I believe his books have a social value that will long exceed his life. Time will tell. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
He is creative and very prolific, but no way would I rank him among my favorite writers. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
