http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=fanball-hawksjacksonexpectst&prov=fanball&type=lgns It appears that S-Jax will become a free agent come July. Would it be possible that the rockets would pursue him, considering his output after the all-star break last season. I know he probably would command a fair bit of cash, but i know that his departure from the spurs hurt SA last season, and i know that he plays with a lot of passion...
Offensively he would be a good fit here. He is a good outside shooter and really showed me something this past season by him being able to get his shot off even though the Hawks didnt have a low post player. He proved himself. Defensively he is average and that would be a factor with JVG. I think Jackson will get offers around the FULL MLE this time around and that will price him out of Houston's range. I hear San Antonio will look hard at him as well. In fact I would not be surprised if SA didnt resign Turkgolu and went after Jackson instead.
If thats the case, then i wouldnt mind going for turkoglu, who can knock down the 3 and would thrive in a Yao/T-Mac offense.
He should stay in Atlanta and keep padding his stats. There is no other team in the league he will get those type of touches for.
Well, JJ wont be able to log 36+ mpg for much longer, and i think we should look at ways at preserving him more towards any plaoff push if anything. We will need someone to be able to hold down the SF spot, even if it is as a reserve. I know everyone is holding out for Boki to deliver, but if we can get a swingman, someone who can switch from SF to SG then at least we add depth to both positions. And if Boki starts to shine, then at least we added some depth. Plus knowing the way JVG deals with players, i wouldnt be surprised that one of the players becomes part of his doghouse!
He has been mentioned hundreds of times on this site. I think the prevailing view is that he is a ball hog, plays mediocre defense, and is horribly turnover prone. I don't think he would be a good addition at all. Besides the fact that he probably doesn't want to come off the bench. He strikes me as a guy who will always be the best player on a bad team.
Turkoglu is an interesting thought.... He is still young, has great versatility and is a great shooter. The catch is he is by no means a JVG type player and based on what i've seen, the guy can't guard a mailbox. I would consider him if his asking price isn't too high and if we lose Nachbar in the T-Mac deal, since it makes no sense to have two soft Euro's at the same position.
From his performance last season Turkgolu really downgraded himself in my eyes. He was a total non-factor for the Spurs when they needed him most. He didnt make any clutch shots and his defense is suspect. As Pop found out, if he isn't hitting shots, why play him? Hedo looked much better in the Kings motion offense than he did in the Spurs dump it down to Duncan offense.
I wouldn't mind SJ or Hedo as a back-up 3/2, but we have more pressing needs with our MLE, namely a PG (Brent Barry, Alston) or back-up C. Better off using the vet min/2 million exemption for someone like Jon Barry or Peeler after the more critical needs are met.
If we Get Brent barry, i'm Sure Jon would be more then glad to take a paycut and join his Bro in houston!
He can Backup to Tracy. He's Pretty hardnose player, and can knock it down from almost anywhere!. i certianly put him Ahead of Pike!
I wouldn't mind having peeler as a back up because next time KG acts up, he'll just pop him in the jaw again.
