Apparently he's been battling toe to toe with Monta Ellis in practice and Don Nelson is raving about him. He's shown he's a lot more than a jump shooter by actively looking to get others involved and showing glimpses of being a full time PG with court vision. That was the scouts' biggest concern about him, that he wouldn't be able to get his shot off as a 2 guard (ala Reddick). I don't know how many people saw the Warriors first preseason game but Curry looked pretty fluid and had 9 assists and 5 steals in limited minutes. When all is said and done should be averaging close to 30 mpg this season IMO. Might not be an athlete in the mold of Derrick Rose, but like Steve Nash he's got height and a high basketball IQ.

He fits the Warriors like a glove. Biggest question is how long it will take him to adjust to the physicality of the NBA, and whether he can adjust in a half court setting as a point guard. Not as skinny as he looks either, 6'3, 185 with a solid frame; still plenty of time to bulk up. For comparison sakes, Steve Nash is 6'3 180 and Rose is 6'3 190.

Rookie of the year would not surprise me. I think he is a steal. I was hoping somehow if Morey couldn't get Rubio that we would trade with Sacramento to draft him. I think he is a better shooter than Brooks, a better playmaker than Brooks, will be a more efficient scorer than Brooks, and at least a borderline All-Star during his career......if he doesn't blossom into a top 5 point guard. I would have loved for us to have been able to draft him and then trade either Brooks or Lowry in a package for another superstar. He could very well be the next Nash. If you can't tell, I'm am very high on Curry.

Not taking the personal battle with Monta Ellis too seriously thought. Monta wants out. He is probably half-a...ing it to haste his departure. What will matter is when it counts for real come Nov 1.

hard to say but I'm sure he'll start.

He's from good stock and has perfect shooting form.

Shooters always find a way to stay in the league.

Until he develops some attacking skills I'll hold off on the All-Star talk.

I thought his lack of defense was his biggest negative. I figure this would hold him back. Think of White Chocolate, but a better shooter.

I will be very surprised if Curry gets Rookie of the Year. He displayed very good passing skills and court vision in college. Playing a lot of minutes in Nellie's stupid "small ball" lineup will help his stats. But in half-court situations, I don't know how effective Curry will be. He needs to be a dead-eye open court shooter or he won't make it in the NBA.

On defense, I expect him to get abused to the max as a rookie. But Curry is a very smart guy and is the kind of player who could make a big step from his rookie season to his 2nd year. I don't expect him to be an impact player this coming season.

Have been saying Curry would be starter/all star level all along.

    Big fan.

    Just a flat out baller.

nellie raving about someone in camp, especially as he enters senility, is nothing to get excited about. I wish the best for Curry, but I voted "bench player." Yes, even on the Warriors.

In Curry's first pre-season game, in 24 minutes he had 9 assists and 5 steals. He went 2-10 on shooting for 5 points.

The thread has very little to do with his first preseason game, it's more of a scouting report that includes his final season at Davidson, word of mouth reports and his potential for improving. I was never a big Devean George fan (preseason Goddess). I think Curry will be a bonafide starter in this league in 3 years because he has the tools and mentality to keep improving as a pure PG, whereas players like Reddick or Head never had those tools.

I'd love to have Redick starting at 2 guard for the Rockets right now.

I know it's going to be a rough season... but you don't need to be cruel.

I think only 3 guys have a shot at ROY. Blake Griffin, Brandon Jennings, and Stephen Curry

I would add James Harden to that list. By all accounts, they say Harden plays and conducts himself like a 10-year veteran. Definitely sounds like the type of player that might blow up in the face of teams going bonkers trying to figure out how to stop KD.

    Bump

Curry looked very good against us tonight. I already knew he was a cerebral player and an underrated athlete, but I had no idea how well (or quickly) his total package would translate to the next level. Well, if tonight was any indication of what's to come you can definitely add my name to his fan club. He see's literally everything out there -- I mean, we're talking elite level court vision. Not only that, but his actual game speed is really quite impressive. His dribble pull-up already looks deadly as well.

He looked great! I probably won't be watching the Warriors very much this season, but if I do, Stephen Curry will be the main reason. He has a special feel for the game. Once he better gauges his capabilities against NBA competition, his mistakes will decrease and his effectiveness will improve. If you add a deadly jumper to that equation, we might be talking Rookie of the Year.

Curry is already the best passer on that team, though that's not saying much.

I love how he always keeps his head up and looks for open players instead of just gunnin'.

His midrange game is nasty, too. Definitely a smart, top-notch shooter and playmaker.

I dunno what Ellis was talking about, I can definitely see him and Curry working well together.

Add Dejuan Blair and Daniel Gallinari and you're set. There's a lot of good rookies/players playing their full seasons this year.

Even though everyone says the past two draft years were bad, there has been lots of steals that the scouts simply overlooked..
