I'm sure you've all heard the reports of Stephen A. Smith and Bryan Colangelo going at it over Bosh's future in Toronto. SAS claims Bosh told Colangelo he has no intention of resigning with Toronto in 2010 and rather than risking losing him for nothing Colangelo is exploring trade possibilities. As you can imagine, both Bosh and Colangelo are denying this. SAS was just on ESPN reiterating the same thing: Bosh wants outs -- whether right now or in the future he simply doesn't want to play in Toronto. What do you do if you're Toronto? I have a gut feeling these reports are true despite whatever predictable reactions you get from Bosh or Colangelo. If you know he's gone in 2010 what do you do? Explore possibilities now? Wait for the summer? Wait til next February? This is much different than Cleveland's situation with LeBron, for example. The Cavs are a legit title contender, meanwhile the Raptors are a joke. We can all smell the dynamite in Toronto. Do you blow it up now or later?
what is there to blow up? It only makes since to trade him, if he wants out. And with the cat out of the bag all they'll likely get is established (not so) superstar players that other teams are unhappy with. Similar to the way we got Mcgrady. It would be nice if WE could rebuild on the fly. Yao, Tracy, and Artest for Bosh, Calderon, and JO?
But he's from Dallas. Shouldn't you already hate him? Screamin' A doesn't know what he's talking about. Bosh already came clean and said there is no truth to this rumor.
He's already come out and stated this is all B.S.....plus he's going to get more money if he stays, I doubt he will leave.
I know this won't happen but it'd be nice: Ron Artest, Carl Landry, and Luther Head for Chris Bosh and Jawai
Anything related to hockey owns that city, even when the Maple Leafs are struggling. You should know that if you're from Toronto.
What else would he say? If he confirms it people will instantly give him the 'cancer' or 'selfish' labels. He has absolutely nothing to gain by confirming a rumor like this.
Hockey IS # 1 as a SPORT in Toronto......but CB4 is the only sellable athlete, therefore at this point he's 'THE MAN'!
He sounds as though he's being honest about it... http://www.thestar.com/Sports/article/581034 Bosh shoots down trade tale Sports Reporter Chris Bosh couldn't have been more emphatic in shooting down an ESPN report that said he'd already told Raptors president and general manager that he wouldn't re-sign in Toronto when he contract expires in 2010. "No. No. No, I haven't told him that," Bosh said today after practice. And just to add another layer of denial, he was asked whether his agent could have made the statement. "No," he said. The apparently non-issue arose Sunday when ESPN entertainer Stephen A. Smith boldly stated that the 24-year-old Bosh had told team officials he was leaving in a season and a half, not even citing anonymous sources. It brought a quick denial today from both Bosh and Colangelo. "It was a surprise to me and I can't be responsible for what other people say so ...," said Bosh, his voice trailing off in disgust. "I understand people are entitled to an opinion but making stuff up? We can't do that. "Let's all be fair." Colangelo also shot down another part of the report that suggested the Raptors might be amenable to trading the four-time all-star. "There's no truth to the rumour or the speculation that he said anything to us in the organization, that he's going to be leaving," said the general manager. "There's no truth to the fact that he's on the trading block or being shopped in any regard. "This is just another example of information that's out there that's not true ... There just doesn't seem to a lot of accountability with respect to the topic sometimes and that's why we're here today talking about it." Bosh is one of a group of highly coveted 2010 free agents, a group that includes LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Speculation has been rife for months about his future, and will continue without doubt. "It doesn't make me angry, it's like, 'come on, man,'" said Bosh. "I think it's unfair just to be able to say something and we have to be politically correct. It's tough, it's not the first time it's happened and it won't be the lat and I'm not the first person this has happened to. That's the business that we're in."
I read that article too but I still have my doubts. I really hope you're right. Bosh leaving Toronto would be devastating not only for the city but the NBA as well. I didn't start this thread to trigger some "HAHA SCREW TORONTO" reaction. Just throwing what i've heard out there and wondering (if true) what course of action Toronto should take to brace their franchise for such a loss. Plus, without Bosh you have to question how competitive that team could be. That's not good for anybody.
Notice i said REBUILD. 1. we get much more athletic, much younger, and Bosh is only getting better. 3. we solve the PG problem, we can get rid of Rafer 2. i'm not completely sure we can even get out of the 1st round with our current "stars" (which is sad for 3 guys in their prime). I don't think any of them are as good as they've been in the past but I think we have great role players some of the best in the league and far superior to that of Toronto. 4. JO's contract comes up a year before Tracy's 5. The '03 draft guys are good friends. We have a better chance of snagging Wade if we have Bosh. And i think their styles would mesh better than with Yao. Obviously, you have to give up something to get something. We might not be as good right after the trade but we would have a much brighter future, imo.
