On First Take moments ago, during a discussion about the possibility of LeBron coming to Houston next season (ain't it amazing we're even in the conversation?) Stephen A said he recently spoke with CP3 and he's never been happier playing ball than he is in Houston.

I really believe we have the prime recipe to land the biggest of Free Agents. We have an exciting owner who so far hasn't spared expense, an innovative GM who makes roster flexibility and cap management a piece of pie. We have a coach who is loved throughout the league for his personality and his system. We have 2 superstars in their prime who love playing here.

What a time to bleed Rockets red!

If they're so good and drama free, who wants to write stories about that?

It's not like they pay columnists just to watch the game...

Wait a minute. Didn't Stephen A say that CP3 was the biggest loser in the offseason

How does one make a career from being obnoxious, while also having predictions that are literally less than 50% accurate?

We could literally flip coins and out predict this guy. I just don’t understand how value is measured in the entertainment industry. Does your actual track record have literally zero value in regards to your job prospects?

It explains why such a large percentage of basketball viewers are riddled with such insane heuristics, as well as paradigm crushing biases, but at the same time, someone smarter than him has to be paying him, right?

Is ESPN actually stupid from the bottom to the top, only being saved by DIS exec’s macro management? Seems unlikely, but I’m not sure how much longer it can be ignored.

Did he ask Chris Paul if we were exciting though?

Exciting is most important, more than wins or fun and marginally ahead of making funny faces after dunks.

At least Stephen A admits when he’s wrong and isn’t afraid to backtrack.

Maxkip Kellerbayless just doubles down on the hot takes every time. We could win the ship and they’d still say but is he a two time MVP and could he not do it alone?

Screming A smith is wrong about 90% of the stuff he talks about. But atleast he „admits“ it by saying good things about the people he doubted before

Nobody wanted to talk about the Rockets until it was leaked that Lebron might consider us lol. Now we're all over the media outlets, the same ones that said CP made a mistake by coming here. It should make our fans angry Lebron's name is all over our success

That's why Harden has to win it with CP3 this year before LeBron comes chasing some more rings....

I don't think it's that simple. It's also that we're now nearly 1/3 of the way through the season and the Rockets sit atop the league standings at 21-4. They're on pace to win 68-69 games(for the record, I don't think they're gonna come close to that total). They're 11-0 with CP3 in the lineup. They're one of the best offensive and defensive squads in the NBA. So this is no fluke or merely a hot start. This team is for real. They could win a title as currently constructed.

Taking all of this into account, why wouldn't LeBron consider coming here if he was intent on leaving Cleveland? Especially if his alternatives are teams like the Lakers or Sixers. I think media types are concurrently discussing the great play by the Rockets AND why that would make them a great fit for LeBron next summer.

When Stephen A Smith makes predictions, he's always wrong. but one can't deny that he has the best connections with players in the league. No one can provide a more personal take on more players in the NBA than him.

Only real thing of substance from this clip was that CP3 is happy playing here, as this was a firsthand account given to SAS by CP3 directly.

And that is great to hear.

Houston has always been a pretty good FA destination, and with Harden in town and the city constantly improving its a really attractive place to play now. This, despite not really being a basketball town. Pretty impressive.
