would you take on Harrington's contract if it gets us Melo AND Nene? I'd have to see what we'd have to give up if we do
I find it hard to believe we're looking for a 4 and an Expiring. We have plenty of both. I really don't want him.
I'm all for improving the team, but let's think about this for a minute. Nene is a good post presence on offensive, while he is an average one on one and team defender, below average rebounder, and below average shot blocker. If the line up is Nene/Scola/Battier/Martin/Lowry, would this work defensively? I guess I just have to see who we trade for him and what the rotation will look like. Nene would be GREAT for a team with an athletic shot blocking and rebounding power forward, such as OKC with Ibaka.
WTF? Nene plays effective defense. He's also gold around the basket. Find me another young available Center that can do that.
He will be an upgrade offensively, but this is not our biggest weakness right now. We need interior post defensive presence...and for some reason that is NOT Nene. He has all the tools, but he is just not good at rebounding or blocking shots.
Ideally wouldn't you still want a center to pair with Nene? I've always felt he's been playing out of position in Denver. Doesn't change as many shots as y'all might think, but ya, he is a solid defender.
He packs the paint. We just aren't going to find another Center that can do that. Let's be real, What other Defensive shot blocking center is available on the Market right now? If you want a Shot blocking Big you'll need to draft him because other teams just don't trade those guys.
I would be more than okay with Nene at the 4, but then we'd have scola, hill, and patterson behind him and that would definitely be a problem.
McGee (maybe by trade deadline) and Kaman. Don't sleep on Kaman....dude is a beast when healthy. I know we're pretty sensitive with the health issue around here, but Nene has had his share of injuries.
If he can change 3-4 shots a game, that would be all the difference we need. Also, answer this for me. Can he defend better than Hill? Nuff said.
Let's slow down here...we're only "in the mix" because Morey will make a call to them. Nene may not want to come here.
I dunno about Harrington, but I am curious if they are wanting to get out of Birdman's contract. It would be a risk for us since the guy can't stay healthy, but could pay off nicely.
People will disagree but he is NOT a center. Like Scola, Nene can play it and be effective, but offer little to none shot blocking. Nene might be intesting if he comes with a pick.
