Anyway, looking to take some friends out for a special occasion and want to treat them to steaks. I was going to go to Taste of Texas, but they don't take reservations. I'm on a tight schedule that night.

Any suggestions? It's important that they take (and hold) reservations. Price is not an issue.

    Gracias.

Vic and Anthony's Steakhouse. It is right by Minute Maid park. Everything is good from the drinks, appetizers, and steaks.

    I highly recommend.

Yes I agree. I've posted my opinions about this topic before. Coma, it may be worth a search.

My favorites are V&A, Capital Grille, Morton's. I haven't tried the Smith & Wollensky in Houston (but I have eaten at other locations). It's also very good.

goodman - Yeah I remember V&A having very strong drinks as well.

Damn, and I was gonna say Taste of Texas.

    Brennan's?
    Houston's?

In a pinch you can go to Saltgrass ...

Ruth's Chris, much better than Vic and Anthony's IMO.

    Brennan's really isn't a steakhouse. It's more Louisiana-influenced.

Saltgrass? Houston's? Let's keep it classy, San Diego.

Supposedly, Pappas Steakhouse is one of the best in town.

Other than my place, I like the Palm, but I rarely eat steak outside of my place. I like the way I cook a steak and no chef in a restaurant can duplicate it.

Bigtexx...I've been to Smith and Wollensky in Highland Village.
The food is not up to par with other S&Ws I've been to around the country, but the bar scene is pretty damn good.

Do Not..I REPEAT Do Not go to Smith and Wollensky.

Its completely overrated and over priced for what you're getting. I don't mind paying a premium for a great steak or great ambiance, but I HATE getting taken.

You really can't go wrong with Morton's or Pappa Bros. steakhouse. Order the Souffle as soon as you sit down at Morton's though!

    Others

Ruths Chris (mmmm butter sauce!) But the Location sucks!
America's For a nontraditional Churrasco steak but nice ambiance
Capital Grille - Great ambiance good but not great steaks though

You know, when I started this thread, I knew you would chime in with your home cooked steak. :)

I appreciate the input everyone. I just made a reservation at Vic & Anthony's.

Ten people, my treat, it's going to be a whopper of a bill.

The Strip House, not as stodgy an atmosphere (good decor) as some of the old-school type places (Palm, Ruth's Chris, Morton's, etc...would be a great place if it's a group of guys.

Lynn's on Dairy Ashford, more of an intimate place though.

By far and hands down, Perry's Grille and Steakhouse on Bay Area Boulevard in Clear Lake.

Nothing else is even close. [begin drool sequence] You have to try the fried asparagus.[/drool]

    Ted's of Beverly Hills.

He's Ted Bell, and he invented the practice of putting tin foil around the potato before baking it. He also invented 'The Ted' which is a drink in which Rum is mixed in with Coke.

Again, he's Ted Bell. That's pretty much all you need to know.

Come to Ted's where our motto is We want to put our meat in your mouth.
