I went to the doctor for the first time today for std testing and some other tests involving my blood. Long story short they charged me $400 and charged my insurance $300 for just the office visit. My insurance only covered the office visit and I had to pay all the lab tests out of pocket. I feel that this is a little high, opinions? Here is a list of test performed: Hiv VDRL G/c + Chlamydia Urine culture and analysis Prevac. Hep B Hep C CBC w/plateletes TSH CMP My friend told me she went for std testing at planned parenthood and it only cost her $150 for the tests. =/

I went when I was a student at Rice. Since I was a student and didn't have any income, I got everything you listed for $6 over at a clinic in the third ward. The clientele at the clinic was a little unsettling, to say the least. Did you get the "q-tip" test? I still have nightmares about that thing.
I have been tested 3 times before at the county health clinic for only $5 each time. I got everything done that you had done too. I do live in Arkansas though so it may be different down there. Yes, the q-tip test is a b**** but I was given an option between that another test but they told me the results from the q-tip test were much faster to get back so that's why I did it. I try to encourage all my friends that sleep around to get tested at least once a year and before I was with my girl that I am with now I used to do that and that is why I got tested 3 times, the last being the year I settled with her. Sounds like you've been had.
Next time you want to go wild, just remember how much you paid for the tests, that should help in the future.
Married...never been there, never done that...but even so the words Q-Tip test have me shivering in my seat.
Ok, so I've heard myths of the Q-tip test, but always thought with the advancement in science, that this was an old school way of doing things. Hopefully, this is not the only way to test for that.
As I said in an earlier post there is another way to do it but the results come back faster with a q-tip, not sure why though.
The q-tip test is nothing compared having a foley catheter inserted. Anyone that has had surgery probably knows that all too well.
