its a tough job, but not worth $110,000/yr. not especially if there was some real competition for the job.

I'd like to see this study done on a regional basis.

As a stay at home dad, I don't think you may realize how much work is involved, until you are the only one there to do it.

It's still the best job I ever had though.

I get to work from home most of the time, so I tend to do many of the housekeeping type things (laundry, cleaning up, cooking, etc) and have been my daughter's daily caregiver since she was born last year.

I would be really, really hard pressed to come up with 94.4 hours worth of stuff that I did in any given week.

The typical stay-at-home Mom supposedly spends over an hour a day doing laundry. An hour a day!

I do laundry for my my wife, my daughter and me once a week. It typically takes seven loads. The actual time I spend either sorting or loading or putting clothes away each week is about an hour to an hour-and-a-half.

To spend an hour a day, I'd have to be doing laundry for 20 or so people.

Unless I count the time that the machines are doing all the work.

I seriously doubt that as being anywhere near accurate. It doesn't take nearly that long to care for children(unless you have lots of small children not in school) or clean the house.

How many of them would I need to get my $6 million in funding? Maybe I could round up a bunch of stay at home MILFs and pimp em out.

    ;)

You could get a live-in nanny for way cheaper. If you add in the price of a twice-a-week "escort", the price does inflate quite a bit ;)

I think the problem is there is an implicit comparison to the salary a working father brings home... but without counting up the market value of all the work he does taking care of kids, cleaning house, handling money, teaching, etc.

Nobody knows what a stay at home parents goes through, unless you're one. I think it is MUCH harder than people think, but I love it. I think I should get 120,000 a year though, because I have to do laundry twice a week and go up and down the stairs all day! :p

Stay at home Moms and Dads are priceless imo & my husbands.

This is horrible counting procedure. Because it only works if the "working dad" ONLY WORKS at the office.

At the very least, a working dad needs to drive himself to work (what would the cab ride be?), and do the finances (how much for the accountant?).

I just can't imagine that most dad would basically slack off at home and make his wife to ALL the housework. There's always some sharing of duties. If you count that for the mom, then you need to do so for the dad. Well, unless the dad basically gets home, sit on the couch and do nothing all the time.

    I bet I can get a maid/nanny for less than 50K a year if I were rich.
