Add Rose's stats for the game, since he was the backup center.

When you look at those stats Ming did not play bad at all. Because those guys have been in there entire camp and still played like crap

I don't think it's meaningful to judge a player from the stats of just one preseason game. Anyone could had an off-night & we are certainly not expecting Francis to shoot 5-19 in everygame.

I went to the game and Yao played great D on Robinson. Almost too good because he just stuck to Robinson like glue and really didn't play very much help defense. Robinson only made one shot and it was a lucky role.

Yao also blew by Robinson (or Malik) once on a spin move and missed the layup because it was his first shot and he looked nervous.

And I would say the offensive fouls were quite subjective. Imagine Shaq won't get this type of calls if he does the same thing Yao did. So those refs just showed that they wanted to give you a lesson while you are a rookie. That is the sad side of NBA and that's part of the reason why NBA has been losing fans. College sports are execiting because you don't see the seniority factor that often.

Didn't Yao Ming kick the ball out to Torres for a J?

    Shouldn't he have an assist?

6 pts 4 rebounds and 1 block for 1 quarter of play. That is very impressive for a first start. Imagine if he had recieved starters minutes? 34 or 36 minutes would have surely have given him around 14 to 18 pts with around 10 rebounds and 2 to 4 blocks. I don't want to here about the foul trouble either, he adjusted very well in the second half and only picked up 1 foul in 8 minutes of play. After Eddie fouled out of the first game so many were saying that Eddie was foul prone but since he barely has any fouls against him. Give Yao a little time to adjust to the speed of the game and some of the fouls will disapear.

Sadly, Robinson really does look shot. That little double clutch jumper of his use to be automatic from 15 in. He couldnt buy that shot last night. He also looked like he was struggling with his lateral movement and looked to be out of position almost the whole game.

    Then againn, he is 37.

And all the other guys (Cato, Robinson, Rose) played a lot more minutes than Ming.

Sun12, couldn't have put it any better. Some of these fans don't know what the hell they're talkin about. To judge a rookie, you don't use stats. You look at the mindset the player is in. I don't think Ming looked scared at all. He wanted the ball and he wasn't afraid to shoot over a long David Robinson. Ming's going to be a positive catalyst regardless of what anybody says.

Probably, but he only had one foul in 8 mins of the second half.

Even if he would have fould out of this game you at least have to give him a couple of games to adjust to the speed and then the fouls will taper off. The production will only get better though.

It is hard for me to find fault with that kind of production in just a quarters worth of work.
