It's good to know the Rockets are actually doing something well on offense. We would probably be a .500 team if not for that point differential, maybe even lower. Free throw consistency will be a major key to success in the playoffs.

    O yea health too. :D

That means our offense is more offensive than ever, points in the paint, get scores from the free throw line. Especially Yao, big guy in the center giving opponent much pressure.

Keeping on our offensive offense, :D

They are also 29th in field goal percentage which is staggeringly bad.

Now if they could put their FT and field goal % around 15th or 14th, I wonder how their record would be? I would bet 16-4.

that's why i'm pretty optimistic about where we are right now. there's no way we'll stay that low. despite being the second worst team in fg%, we're in first place.

And we might not have blown those games if we could shoot from the field.

A valid point - the high proportion of FT-aided wins seems to be more a function of the Rockets' piss-poor shooting than anything else.

The funny thing is Sam that one would think that the And ones...where you are fouled and make the shot would help their FG%...because the shot is not tabulated unless it goes in.....so they must really suck at shooting the ball.

well, statistically if you looked at each individual player and their current FG percentage this season and compare it to their career FG percentage which is way more reliable, you would see that most of the guys who put up alot of shots on our team are well below their career averages. Also three of our best shot makers have been in and out of the lineup or playing less minutes due to Injury: Yao, Tracy, Battier. Losing Tracy hurts our FG percentage alot because he not only makes shots, he creates easy shots for other players, and he also takes alot of pressure off of our best scorer Yao Ming. So when he comes back our FG percentage will improve by alot. I think its omly a matter of time until our FG % climbs. It will definantly go up tonight against the Warriors who dont even know that defense is part of the game of basketball.

I think our FT percentage being better than last year is legit. Id be willing to bet that Yao has more of an impact on FT percentage differential than any player in the league. Him getting to the line and making FTs is a pretty big part of our offense. Oh and his Free throw defense is amazing! LOL Our FT defense is always at the top in the league for some reason. I think smart fouls? I dont know.

Forgot to mention that when Bonzi was here last year he took and missed alot of FTs. Artest is getting to the line about as often as Bonzi did, but hes making more of them.

So again, that numbers is legit, and it has been a huge reason why were winning games.

I think the statistical key is point differential. The Rockets are undefeated when the points scored differential is above 0. The Rockets have not won a single game otherwise. It's uncanny.

That's what happens when you miss so many floaters and dunks. I think you all know who I'm talking about.

Yeah, that FT defense is really something. Adelman should get some credit for it. JVG couldn't have done that. :D
