http://www.truthaboutit.net/2012/12...s-embarrassing-no-words-better-than-that.html I think the video here says it all. Is Nene available for cheap?
All I know is he wasn't available for expensive when the Rockets came courting before. Supposedly he was also the frontcourt piece to be added when the Basketball Reasons trade fell through. Nene Hilario-ous.
Bonus post: Honestly Nene was only ever a side-grade over Scola in terms of production. He got his contracts for being a good pick N roll finisher, though, and I'm sure that is what warranted the Rockets' interest on multiple occasions. In fact I'm certain of it, given the sheer extent of high pick N roll action the Rockets are running this season.
Nene lost his athleticism last season and it's gone for good. Without it his bad contract is now untradeable.
I'd take him in a heartbeat, he is still an excellent player. He is currently sporting a 24 PER, just FYI
I assumed he really fell off since going to the Wizards, but you're right. In just over 500 minutes the last couple years, his PER is around 24 and his +/- numbers also look really good. I wonder why he isn't playing more minutes.
lol, imagine if we had gasol/nene like morey wanted last year. Our team would be screwed. Thank you God Stern
Nene was dumped for the dumbest player in the league because every time he stubs his toe he sits out for weeks at a time. Don't want that softie and his anchor of a contract anywhere near this team.
just a slight correction: You can't really say the "last couple of years." It is his last 24 games. As for his PER going up, this is what I've always said. If you take a starter and bring him off the bench in limited minutes (22mpg this year) against bench players, his PER will go up. PER will go down with more minutes. This is it's flaw...despite the fact it calls itself a "per-minute stat." Point is: not every minute is same dificulty in a game,,,and no one can sustain peak efficiency for high level of minutes. Nene is a perfect example of how PER goes up with less minutes for starter-quality players.
So did Dalembert for a while this season. The Numbers are skewed because he missed the first month. No one is mistaking Dally as a good player this year.
There might be something to this, but I don't think the relationship between PER and minutes is as direct as you're making it out to be. James Harden would be an obvious counter example. There was an SBNation article by Tom Ziller last month, featuring James Harden, that discusses the issue of per-minute (or per-possession) stats and why they shouldn't be discarded. You may find it interesting.
**** no do not want. He might be a nice player, but his contract is horrendous especially since he's injury-prone and 30 years old.
Don't look now, but the Wizards are on their way to winning 7 of their last 10. Beating the Bulls by 18 in the 4th. With Beal coming around and Wall and Nene healthy their lineup looks pretty decent: Wall/Beal/Webster/Nene/Okafor Second team ain't that bad either: Price/Crawford/Ariza/Booker/Seraphin
