Now that the Suns have been eliminated, should they make any changes?

Amare Stoudemire fits the Suns style so well, but his defense is just turrible.

Everyone is a year older; Sure, Nash and Hill are playing great, but they are veterans in every sense of the word.

Should the Suns let Stoudemire go, and "rebuild," or resign him and hope for the best in a trade / FA signing?

    Nash
    Richardson
    Hill
    Stoudemire
    Lopez

is still pretty good, but it won't be enough to get past all the other West teams that are scorching; next year, OKC, HOU, and POR should all be even better than they are.

    Thoughts?

I would keep Stoudemire... Nash just doesn't seem to decline as he gets older... ride it while it's still there. Keep this team, sign a good FA. They need a solid back up SG and PF. They are solid at almost every position. A back up center would be nice too.. I think they're going to let Frye go.

Amare Stoudemire, if he cares about stats, will never be as successful as he is in Phoenix with Nash. The Suns are also winning, but I still cannot see them winning a title unless they get some other big time player.

If Amare is interested in winning a championship, I see him going to Miami to pair up with Wade.

I wonder what their cap room is.

The Suns just mesh so well on offense, and this year, their defense was passable.

If they could get someone to defend on the front court, such as someone in the mold of OKC's Ibaka, that would be a good way to start the summer.

    They need an ARTEST TYPE.
If I were them . . .I'd try to pry Battier away from the Rockets
They need some Defenders. Esp at the wing positions.
I think they bigs are ok . . but soft. Softer than the Lakers
and imo that is saying something.

    Battier for Barbosa?
Dunno if I want Barbosa but the Sun *have to* get someone
who is a solid defender and someone that plays within themselves
[kind of unArtest like in that sense ;) ]
Battier is still a 3 pt threat [though not the driving threat but
they can afford to lose that when they start Dragic opposite Nash]

they will have to have some people that will slow some folx down.

I would definitely not want Barbosa on this team.

He doesn't play very well in a system he should thrive in.

    Kevin Martin >>> Barbosa.

Sign Amare and draft a PF/C. They're still pretty weak on the frontcourt. The samurai just won't do as a backup to Amare. They only have second round picks this year, so it would be near impossible to draft a starting caliber PF.

If they need to part ways with Amare, they should work out a sign and trade to get some assets in return. I could see Miami be willing to do that.

True enough. I think they need more defense.

sorry. I meant it from the SUN's side.
I don't think I would care much for him.
    Martin is better.

The Suns aren't making the decision on whether Amare stays, HE is. It isn't a matter of them letting him go. I think he's decided to leave and today was his last game in a Suns jersey.

The Suns will be worse next season without him and there's not much they can do about it. If he walks, they will be under the cap but not enough to get a top-tier free agent. Whatever they get in return in a SnT won't replace Amare. J-Rich's ridiculous contract will be in it's final year, so he might be tradeable. Barbosa has 2 years left at $15 million and isn't the most attractive trade bait for another team. All of the other guys on their team are cheap.

I think their main decisions involve J-Rich and Barbosa. My guess is at least one of them will be gone. Channing Frye could decide to opt out since he had a decent year.

It won't be a great summer for Suns fans. At least they have a good coach as a foundation. Maybe they could get Beasley back from the Heat in a SnT if Amare goes to Miami. Yay.

You paint a grim picture for the Suns.
This may have been their best year.

I think the Rockets will surpass them next year

Right, but I think with the way things are right now, Stoudemire might actually stay in PHX.

They were pretty darn close; they just need a few pieces, and they'll contend again.

On paper, the Rockets will surpass everyone next year, no homer.

    42-40 without Yao.

Now, the Rockets get Yao back, and a pick.

In a perfect world with no injuries, I'm sure the Rockets could amass 60 wins.

I don't think that is important to Amare.
I think Amare will end this summer looking like Boozer in Cleveland.

Big ole Money Grab [even though he can get the most from pheonix
I think he will gilt them]

Good point. If i was him, I would leave already. 2 years worth of trade rumors is just too much. They were contenders this year though, so that might change his mind. They're a solid defender and a consistent backup big away.

    Ha, true.

But I hope those teams know what they are getting.

Probably the most athletic PF in the game today, but also one of the worst PF on defense.

They way the Suns have dangled him out there the last 2 years, I think the bridge is burnt and it's very unlikely he re-signs. But you never know. I bet he can't wait to get outta there.

That is true; I would hate to hear my name being in trade rumors.

Especially if I was as gifted, offensively, as Stoudemire.
