Below is a stat comparison between Steve Francis and Mark Jackson on (assists per 48 minutes) and (assists/turnover ratio): -----------------------------------Steve Francis----------Mark Jackson 2003/2004 assists per 48 minutes--------------7.0 assists/turnover ratio----------------1.57 2002/2003 assists per 48 minutes--------------7.3---------------------12.3 assists/turnover ratio---------------1.68---------------------2.47 2001/2002 assists per 48 minutes--------------7.3---------------------12.3 assists/turnover ratio---------------1.64---------------------4.03 In the 2002/2003 season Mark Jackson was in the middle of the pack amoung the league in assist to turnovers while Steve was LAST. In the 2002/2003 season Mark Jackson was #3 in assists per 48 minutes only behind John Stockton and Jason Williams. In the 2002/2001 season Mark Jackson was #2 in the league in assist to turnovers only behind T. Brandon while Steve was next to the last. In the 2002/2001 season Mark Jackson was #7 in the league in assists per 48 minutes only a few percentage points from the top. Yes, Mark Jackson is a different type player than Steve Francis and you could compare their stats in other areas and see where Steve is much better. But Mark Jackson, while older and a little slower, is still one of the BEST true point guards in the league. He will help the Rockets very much, hope we get him.
Looks like the type of player we need. He will only play 15 -20 minutes, but hopefully he can be productive and help teach Francis.
Show me the stats on how many gaurds torched Jackson up for 30 points. Then show me where is Jackson in the last 2 minutes of a game.
Jackson is a pass first point guard, as evidenced by his place on the all-time assists list. Steve isn't in that mold at all. It's like comparing apples to oranges, with the stat comparison having an obvious favoritism towards one. Take into account all of their stats if you're going to do this "stat comparison."
If you look @ tunovers over 48 minutes, yes Mark Jackson is ahead of Steve Francis, BUT so is Jason Kidd. The most important stat is assist to turnovers and how they get their team involved. My comparison was showing that in assists while on the floor and assist to turnovers while on the floor we are getting a solid back up in Mark Jackson. We need a solid pass first back up to Steve. This will give us a different look, and make it an adjustment for opposing defenses. We need this on this team right now.
