Anyone else with me? Lee has already proven himself to be a bonafide starter in this league. Brooks/Martin might be the smallest backcourt in the league, which is why I like the idea of Lee starting over Martin...especially defensively. At least Lee is better equipped to handle the bigger guards in this league, and between Yao, Brooks, and Scola I think our starters would still be fine for offense. Kev Mart could be a great offensive spark coming off the bench. I just like the idea of our 2 best perimeter defenders (Lee and Battier) together with Yao in the middle. All around I think this is our most complete starting 5. Brooks/Lee/Battier/Scola/Yao
I don't know. But Brooks/Lee or Lowry/Martin seems to be more balanced than Brooks/Martin or Lowry/Lee.
I tend to take the other approach... think of lee and lowry anchoring our second team... Bleed Red Rockets Red.
Funny I actually thought about this very thought after the trade for C Lee..... And then I came to this conclusion = You don't pay your 6th man 12 million a year.
One of the worst threads ever. Lee has proven himself as a starter in this league? Really? Martin/Brooks is a small backcourt but you think Lee would add size to the backcourt?
this would be like trading for melo, while keeping battier, and then suggesting starting battier for defensive purposes.
Man... every morning I wake up with a renewed sense of humanity and then I get on CF and read this crap.
In my 10+ years on this board... This is honestly the stupidest suggestion I've ever heard. The ****ed up thing is the OP is totally serious.
Fine if you disagree but can we get some better arguments against? Lets not bring salary and who we traded for into this. Kevin Martin is a stick. Paired with Brooks we have a midget and stick man as our starting back court. Courtney Lee may not be tall but he's got the BUILD and DEFENSE to hold his own against the bigger guards. And to the person who said Lee is not a starter in this league? No he only started the NBA Finals guarding Kobe Bryant as a rookie. IMO I do believe this balances out our rotation better. Lee may not have to start but I would like to see a large chunk of minutes go to Brooks/Lee/Battier/Scola/Yao on the court together
