I know its early, and probably too soon to start talking about it. Is it only a matter of time before Scolar and Landry start getting heavy minutes? Where does Chuck fit as far as the future of the team is concerned.

Would you guys be open to trading him if he becomes a 3rd string guy? Is he fine as a starter and we should keep things the way they are. Chuck has hit his ceiling, Landy is going to be very good in this league, along with Scola.

Either way, I love Chuck and everything he brings. I just wonder where he'll fit, we seem to be stacked at every position right now.

I think that starting Chuck is a good thing, cause it's the only way he can be really effective (and he is a great balance in the starting lineup, bringing defensive presence and stability).
Bringing Scola and Landry off the bench is great, I think it's better for them because they bring such energy and offensive presence when they come in, but I agree they should have more minutes because they are really good compare to Chuck who has no offensive game. But I like what Adelman is doing.
I hope that Landry will get to play in every game just like last night, he is so talented. The Scola-Landry combo is just great.

The Rockets are so DEEP !

I'd say be more patient. One solid game against an 8 win team wont make Rick Adelman get rid of his starter for a rookie prospect. The Rockets were up big so he let Landry have a go at it. If Scola or Landry start piling up more mins it will be like last night which one comes in as a backup center for Yao. Hayes makes things a lot easier for Yao and helps him stay out of foul trouble, Hayes is a solid rebounder and defender. Landry has only played in 4 of our 37 games.

As much as I look forward to seeing Landry do a lot more of that, I think it's way premature to start trading Hayes. The Rox have won seven in a row *with Hayes starting and Landry deep on the bench.* A winning streak is not the time to start trading your starters.

no... Scola, I dont know about him starting about Chuck should be in rotation. Landry only played good cuz it was a bad team, dont except him to do well vs great teams.

Hayes is a solid 12th man. Luis should be starting, and Landry should get the backup minutes against second or third stringers.

Yes, I would have much preferred Nick Fazekas or Josh McRoberts in the draft, but as long as we have Landry, we should play him. He is a more complete player and slightly larger than Hayes, although both are shrimpy PFs.

Perhaps people are forgetting that Landry's performance came in garbage time against a crap team?

Not that he won't be good, but this brief appearance is about as good for predicting the future as Kelvin Cato's domination of preseason competition.

I think we should keep Chuck. Right now it seems we are set at that 4 spot for the next few year with three quality players. Ultimately, I expect Scola to start, Landry to be primary backup, and then Chuck provides quality depth. Also, Adelmen tends to play small ball with Scola at center, so I believe there is still room for all these three guys in the rotation. Chuck is the best post defender on this team, something this team has lacked for awhile, so I really think that he's a keeper. Even if he's not playing on the court, you gotta believe that he'll push everyone else in practice and is a good presence in the locker room. He is all class, all hard work; thats how a Houston Rocket should be.

Use him as a sub to back-up Yao after Deke retires.
Since most of the back-up centers in the NBA suck, we dont have to worry about him getting burned on defense because of his size.

Hayes will eventually get traded or waived to make room for an inbound player or rookie we aquire through the draft.

Players on the bubble for next year I would say are:

    Snyder
    James
    Francis
    Novak
    Hayes

I can say that when Yao and Hayes are playing together, teams double team Yao and don't worry about Hayes. All Hayes can do is set a pick and Yao is rendered useless. Yao and Landry or Scola is way more effective on offense. On defense, however, I'm not sure ....

Scola needs to come off the bench and give the Rockets that spark to keep the momentum going. IMO

I've felt for a while that we're better served with Scola getting increased minutes, and maybe starting. Landry looked good against Minnesota, but against good teams I'd be worried about how he holds up defensively next to Yao.

If only there was a way to combine Carl and Chuck into one player, how sweet would that be?

Rockets have had lots of problem this year. Hayes has not been one of them. Don't fix it if it...

Too early to hail Landry as a rotation player.

But I'm sure glad that we have good depth at a position that was so thin just a year ago.

Scola will eventually be the starter. But Hayes will play heavy minutes even when that happens. I think what it means is that we don't really need a back up center other than some insurance guy like Mutombo in case of injuries. Scola is the back up center for Adelman's faster lineup. And Landry can take up a bit of Hayes's minutes, not much.

Hayes' value on defense is underestimated. Expect him to see a lot of minutes against David West tomorrow.
