http://sports.sina.com.cn/cba/2010-01-17/18154794812.shtml It says he signed to play for ShanXi, which Bonzi played for a year ago. I guess the Italy league is not good enough for him.
China does not suck. I studied abroad there for a semester and it is a great place with very nice people.
LOL this made me LOL. I think he was talking about the level of basketball, not the country or its people... I hope they dont block those webcam sites in China so I can see him act a fool over seas....LIVE!
if I honestly added joy to your day, I could use the rep points. but only if I made you laugh for real though
China does not suck -- I know you just laid a troll turd, but for a player past his prime to get to play a sport in a foreign country and experience the culture while getting paid is pretty cool.
I just don't understand why would he go to a communist country like china. there's allways 50 countries in europe.
Parts of China are amazingly vibrant and interesting. But the real question is why he choose Shanxi, known for its coal production and pollution. I don't think he really grasps what he is about to get into and I don't think Shanxi's bosses really get what they will get in Marbury either. There must be a reason why Bonzi bailed out the team in less than two months while he was treated like Jordan and Bird combined there, averaging 50 pts a game. This is where Marbury will play, nothing like New York. I bet he is going to bail sooner than Bonzi did.
yeah i lived in shanxi... i taught english for 2 months, haha it is kind of polluted but the clubs are off the hook... i got treated like royalty just for being a foreigner, so i'm guessing he is going to have a blast...
[reuters]NBA All Star Marbury signs up for China league http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/18/AR2010011801081.html NBA All Star Marbury signs up for China league Reuters Monday, January 18, 2010; 4:56 AM BEIJING (Reuters) - Twice NBA All Star point guard Stephon Marbury will become the highest profile American to play in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) after he agreed to join China's Shanxi Club. The 32-year-old, a free agent since leaving the Boston Celtics last season, had agreed a deal with the northern club and would arrive in Shanxi next week, the team announced on their official website (www.sxcba.com). "The aim of signing Marbury is to pay back our fans and try to win more games in the rest of the season," said Shanxi boss Wang Xingjiang. The 2001 and 2003 NBA All Star was expected to help boost Shanxi's ticket sales as well as their chances of making the playoffs. Shanxi is currently 15th in the 17-team league. Wang added that Marbury's salary would not be too high because the former New Jersey Nets and Phoenix Suns player wanted to promote his personal brand of shoes in China. Shanxi last season hired former NBA player Bonzi Wells, who scored as many as 50 points a game. The contract ended after less than two months when Wells went on holiday but failed to return on time. ... good luck finding pot and smoking it. I was just a kid when i was in china, but i dont' remember any drug dealers at all on the streets.
Spoken like someone who's never been to China. China is a great place to go and yes you will be treated like royalty. Especially by the females.
