Yes, this is a nerdy topic, but if you don't like it, then just stop reading now. If the forces of Star Wars got into an epic battle with the forces of Star Trek, which side would come out victorious? The Star Trek side The main advantage for Star Trek would be the higher level of overall technology, particularly with regard to shields and weapons. There is no doubt that in a straight up firefight, the vessels of Star Trek are much stronger than those of Star Wars. Sure, the Death Star is big, but with substandard shielding, a single photon torpedo blast could do some serious damage. Mix in a few phaser shots and the empire's flagship could be reduced to space rubble rather easily. Also, Klingon and Romulan cloaking technology would come in handy for covert operations, and Star Wars has nothing like this. I'm not going to involve the Borg or the Q continuum at all, since their actions would be too unpredictable in such a battle. The Star Wars side Maneuverability is perhaps the greatest advantage of the Star Wars ships. In close quarters, the Millenium Falcon and Tie Fighters are much, much faster than Klingon, Romulan or Federation ships. With enough of them, it is conceivable that they could overwhelm the Star Trek side with numbers and speed. Their laser weapons are admittedly more primitive than those of Star Trek, but the Millenium Falcon has a knack for going up against formidable opponents and escaping intact. The wild card for the Star Wars side, in my opinion, is "the Force". It is hard to tell just how effective "the Force" would be against the Star Trek people, but if Star Wars was to have any hope at all, they would need to come up with a way to use it as a weapon. All things considered, I think Star Trek would obliterate the Star Wars side, but the Millenium Falcon would somehow find a way to scrape by and survive.
The Force. A jedi with a lightsaber would go thru a whole ship of trekies before they switched their blasters off stun.
Does the Star Wars side include the material covered in the SW books? If it does, I would certainly have to come down in favor of Star Wars. They cover all of the technology that Star Trek has, they would still have the force, and there are some new technologies like a proton torpedo that causes stars to supernova and ships that are indestructable by any known means (a Jedi hides one of these in the middle of a gas giant so no one can use it for evil). In other words, yes I am a tremendous dork, thanks for asking.
hydra -- I'm mainly going by the Star Wars movies and Star Trek TV shows. Not really taking the novels (from either series) into consideration.
Star Trek is Sci-Fi. Star Wars is Fantasy. I like Star Wars better, mainly because of the fantasy element and the Jedi. But Star Trek is good because it shows more of the technical side of space (i.e. Sci-Fi). But Star Wars kicks butt. At least the Original Trilogy did.
In that case I still vote Star Wars. If Luke can blow up the death star with his X-Wing, he can certainly take out a piddly ship like the Enterprise.
Bah. Star Trek would eviscerate the Star Wars folks. The difference in shield technology, and weapon accuracy would be the major deciding factors in such a battle.
Which Star Trek??? Star Wars would kick Kirk's butt, and likely Cisco and Janeway's aswell (although 7of9 may help), but they stand no chance against Picard!!!
That just got me thinking... How great a Jedi would Picard make? Hmmm as for the debate The Star Wars patrol would decimate the Star Trek pansies. Everyone in the Star Wars Saga is hardened by generations of fighting. Darth Vader, would decimate all the Borg, Klingons, Romulans in a single sqeeze of the fingers "You underestimate the power of the Force"
If Spock were to teach the "Vulcan Death Grip" to Scotty, Bones, Capn Kirk and the rest of the crew, the Star Wars saga would finally be over.
You all underestimate the power of James T. Kirk. Hell, Kirk would seduce ANYONE who stood in their way, although he definitely would lean towards the females... Princess Leia would be a pushover. Kirk's biggest challenge would be the lack of strong (or weak, he didn't care) women in the Stars Wars Universe to work his charms on. Spock would mind-meld with a Jedi and figure out their weakness, then have Tantric Vulcan sex with Vader, Luke or somebody. Hell, Scottie would come up with a counter to the Force... "Just another 2 minutes, Captain!" And he would do it in one. Doc McCoy would cure ANYTHING afflicting our (my-> ) heroes and Chekhov would confuse them with his bad comic relief. They wouldn't stand a chance. If nothing else (excluding "Star Wars" and especially "The Empire Strikes Back"), Star Trek would blow Star Wars out of space with their superior writing. I'm sure I could come up with more, but what's the point?? Star Trek would clobber them.
LOL -- Good point. Also, Yoda is overrated. Worf would rip off his scrawny little arms and carve up his bloody carcass with his Bak'Leth.
Probably, if he could get a hold of him. Yoda would be moving around so fast that Worf would never get the chance to rip off his arms.
Star Wars has all these clone and robot slaves, while Star Trek (the next generation) would use the Prime Directive as some kind of excuse to draw out the war into a boring 7 year television series.
Star Wars would win. "The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force" - Vader
Star Wars. When Star Trek scouts bring back video footage of Master "Tasmanian Devil" Yoda going Sonic the Hedgehog on Count Dooku.....yes, Count Dooku.....all of Starfleet will go into convulsive fits of uncontrollable gut-busting laughter which will render them utterly unprepared and defenseless.
