If anyone is interested... Star Wars: Episode III: SPOILERS AHEAD FOR SW3. Some details have come in on two characters in the last prequel. First the official site reports that Anakin apparently has a scar in the movie but he does not get it in the film, rather the event happens in one of the books preceeding the film. Meanwhile TheForce.Net reports that Christopher Lee's character dies within 10 minutes of the opening crawl of Episode III which explains why, with the exception of some pickup shots later next year, he's finished his work on the film. Temeura 'Jango Fett' Morrison is also confirmed to be returning (most likely as at least one of his clone army members). Some more big spoilers for the third prequel have been revealed by Rick McCallum recently over at the SW Forums. On top of the expected ones such as Ian McDiarmid (Palpatine) having a much larger and important role, there was some quite new and juicy facts. Three words that Darth Vader speaks in Ep3 are "I don't fear...", the movie will explain all of Anakin's injuries except for one (the facial scar), and there will be a scene when Anakin is given the name of Darth Vader and an explanation as to why he was given the name and what it means. Sidious will use an "awesome display of the dark side of the force", the underwater tank set will feature a scene where Obi-Wan fights with droids, whilst the opening battle is entirely in space but there will be land battles in the film. About 80 pages of script have been shot so far (incl. three major lightsaber duels), currently the script is 129 pages long and ends on a sad note, but there is hope for the future of the story. Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) will film his scenes in March of 2004, Joel Edgerton (Owen Lars) will shoot one day's work of shooting in 2004, whilst John Williams will begin scoring the film in November of 2004. Finally, we will see Yoda fighting again, Padmé pregnant, twins Luke and Leia at less than a month old and more.
sounds like it might be better then the other too movies Snowdogs was better than the first 2 movies.
We have a pretty good idea of who dies and who survives, but we still don't know how everything goes down. I managed to avoid most of the plot details before seeing Episode II, and I'd like to do the same for the next one. Unfortunately I already came across that Count Dooku spoiler a few days ago. Then again, who didn't see that one coming? He's gotta get offed to make way for that other Sith Lord named Vader or something.
I think I read from one of the techno-geeks making Episode III that the film will actually be shorter than the first two (despite so much storyline to resolve, says I). Oh well. If it stinks like its predecessors ("when we were kids we would swim out to that island and play in the sand"; "I hate sand, it's rough and coarse and gets all over everything; not like here, here things are soft and smooth"; "Why, Anakin, is that a purple lightsaber or are you just really happy to see me?") shorter would be better. Say it with me, George: Show me da money.
I hope it's more memorable. The thing that made the original 3 movies classics was that they had TONS of memorable scenes, characters and lines, but the last 2 movies have been nothing but a big special effects show. They didn't have any good lines or character develpment at all. I really hated the last 2 movies a lot!
Just B -- it's my contention that those scenes were more memorable because we were younger. when i watch the original three now, i'm not struck by good dialogue..in fact, it sucks. character development??? i see luke's character develop...but that's really the story...the others don't develop much at all. My 3 year old son is getting into Star Wars now. He's watching Phantom Menace right here with me as we speak. He loves watching all of the movies...he asked me if I would take him to the toy store to buy him some Star Wars figures, yesterday...we got him anakin and darth maul. So cool to see it all again through his eyes.
What made the originals so unique is before them, there was no similar concept in sci-fi movies really close at all...after, a different story. Also, there was a better continuity of character development and camaraderie...For example, you had the comical interaction of Solo and Chewbacca, the pairing of heros including Skywalker...The original trilogy had this "core" that could be counted on and the interaction between the gang was interesting...You also had the allure and mysterious evil-figurehead of Darth Vader as a villian with noteworthy implied imagery as if he was a combination of a grim reaper with a powerful robotic-like body and having the look and dictatorish style reminiscient of a Nazi commander (as if "stormtroopers" couldn't give this away)...The personification of evil... However, the first two films don't have the camaraderie,...instead of being charmed with this hero gang, we are bewildered with the very annoying Jar Jar, or we feel indifferent to an adolescent Anakin with his pitiful whining and such...Really, only Yoda seems to be interesting thus far.
However with that said, I've heard/read some good things about Episode 3, particularly how it will finalize the story on Vader. It should be interesting...
I've always heard from a friend that is really into Star Wars that Obiwan ends up killing Anakin in the end of episode III and is brought back to life by him completely embracing the dark side. If we see any Darth Vader in the next movie, I think it will be very little of him.
