For those Sci-Fi fans who saw Quantum of Silence, how sweet was that new Star Trek trailer? Admittedly, I am a big time trekkie. I nearly had a conniption watching this new trailer on the big-screen. http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/startrek/medium_trailer2.html Sylar with ears! Who would've thunk it. trekSAGE
Never a big Trek fan, maybe seen 1 or two of the original shows, and maybe 1 or 2 of the movies. I'll go see this one tho, since I am obsessed with Lost, and they have the same director (JJ Abrams).
Damn quicktime, I freaking hate that format and it's not installed on my work comps. Oh well...I'll just wait until I get home.
in the old tv series, i think there was some episode of that happening. they keep showing Star Trek 3, the Search for Spock on Universal HD. Back then we had Oldsmobiles in the family
I think Kirk kissing Uhura was the first interracial kiss on tv, a big deal at the time I guess. I watched ST:TNG when I came home from school everyday but haven't watched much since then. But if I'm channel surfing and I happen to watch any of the series (original, Voyager, etc) I'm usually entertained. The trailer on the other hand definitely has me hyped up. I can't wait. I like any well made sci-fi flick, I have hopes for this one.
Gene Roddenberry was notorious for behing ahead of his time insofar as social/cultural issues like interracial relationships. Heck, the whole crew consisting of multiple ethnicities with Chekov and Sulu were unheard of outside of the U.N. I have high hopes too. Here's a rundown of other J.J. Abrams' works. 1. Mission Impossible 3 2. Armaggeddon 3. Regarding Henry 4. Cloverfield (which I thought was rather clever btw) 5. Felicity 6. Alias 7. Lost 8. Fringe His TV works have really got me excited that he'll do equally well with Star Trek - which of course started first on TV. theSAGE
is this supposed to be "prequal"? sort of a beginnings of spock sort of thing? i've never seen any of the star treks (are they worth catching), but that trailer looks awesome.
Yes. Yes. And Yes. Here's a bit from JJ Abrams interview to give you an idea of what prequel they had in mind. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/startreknews.php?id=46917 http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20007719,00.html Of the movies, it can be hit or miss depending on what your expectations are. imho, the second and third movies with Nemoy and Shatner are terrific. But generally speaking, I would say the TV shows are far superior. So if you like the movies, you'll probably love the TV show, but not necessarily, the other way around. theSAGE
Damnit, me! I'm not a musician! Wait... Meh. This could be good, but I much preferred the whole prequel on the UB or UPN, or CSB, or whatever the hell it was called. Now THAT was a promising premise, and one GOOD writers should've jumped on. A remake with the same characters may work, mind you, but it's like rehashing "Lost" 20 years later. We've seen it. We want to know precursors or pursuits, period. And everyone knows I'm right. I always am.
I'm not a big fan of Star Trek, but I see Zack's picture That's pretty awesome,Sylar with Star Trek. Can't wait to see it.
