Does anyone have any info. on these player ie.Strengths,weaknesses...will they contribute?I believe Bell was a second round pick of the rox a few years back but I could be way off base here.Any info. would be appreciated. ------------------ I'm not the type to eat it up but the type to hit it raw dog and seed it up.
Bell actually played with Shandon Anderson at Georgia Univ. (left in 1996, as did SHhandon) and Boseman played college ball at USC and left in 1997. Last year Boseman played for the LaCrosse Bobcats in the CBA. Bell was actually drafted by Houston in 96 in the second round....not sure what pick. But he never made the cut.He played in the CBA that year, then Spain for a while, then back to the CBA. I think last year he played with Rockford. Bell was a fairly good shot blocker in college, but not much of an offensive threat. I was surprised he was on the preseason squad, as we already have a shotblocker in Cato, whom is really more effective on offense. Boseman, I have mixed opinions on. He is a decent shooter, but nothing else really stands out. He also is fairly adept at handling the ball....just a basic guard with a basic skillset. Can they contribute? I don't think either one will make the team for opening day...but if I had to pick one, I would say the Boseman has a better shot. Now that we lost Drew, I don't think it would be a terrible idea to have some insurance, a third stringer around. Bell is just so raw from what I remember. I have not had much of an opportunity to see him this preseason either. Maybe he is improved. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness." Bell failed a physical so he is not with the Rockets any more this year. I liked Boseman in the RMR- looked to have solid defense and shooting. Wouldn't be awful to keep Boseman on the IR this year, in case something happens to one of our guards. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com
Boseman was a senior on the same USC team as Rodrick Rhodes. He was actualy the guy who got the most press leading up to the draft and was considered generaly as someone who could go as high as early second round (though he wasn't actualy drafted). He was considered at the time as a defensive type shooting guard who could occasionaly slide over to the 1. The big weakness was considered his outside shot, (he did hit roughly 35% of his 3's as a senior) and his relative lack of height for a 2. ------------------
I also think that keeping only four guards would be a mistake, in case of the inevitable injury. If we do keep around five, it would seem at this point that Boseman is the one that is going to stay. My bet is that you will see him in a Rockets uniform at some point this season. ------------------
Whatever happened to Joe Stephens? I thought he was the permanent "I'm not a Rocket but I get to go to the training camp and maybe sign a 10 day contract" backup guard. At least since the Tim Breaux facination ended. ------------------
I'm pretty syre I heard he was somewhere seeking another 10 day contract ------------------ I'm not the type to eat it up but the type to hit it raw dog and seed it up.
