Has anyone visited there or know a database- website for places to rent for a week to 10 days? I want to plan winter vacation and have in mind a condo or villa for a week. Any suggestions??

    Thanks in advance.

I passed through there once on a ferry coming from Tortuga, as we were going through the tin customs shack we heard a pow and then someone squeeling like a pig. Turns out on just the other side of the chain-link somebody was getting shot.

We took one of those Barefoot sailboat cruises. It was cramped and the crew was camp but it was a pretty nice trip. There are a bunch of private sailboat rentals out of St. Thomas where you can sail around the islands. You can do it yourself or get a husband and wife captain and chef. From island to island is not much more than just sailing in a lake, you never loose site of the islands.

My wife and I stayed at Bolongo Bay Beach Club http://www.bolongobay.com/index.htm for a week about 3 years ago. We liked it. It's family owned, not fancy, and kind of out of the way. Met some real nice locals at the beach bar there who said they thought BB was the best on the island. The place has a real relaxed, down-home feel to it. We were there in October and it was not crowded at all, we would have the beach pretty much to ourselves. If you go, you have to check out the beaches on St. John too. BB is close to Red Hook where you can catch the ferry to St. John.

I went there last october, although we stayed on St Johns. I would recommend NOT staying on St Thomas. St Johns is smaller, nicer, much better beaches, safer etc... It is only 20 minutes way by ferry as well.

You can stay at several places - The Westin which was just "ok", anf there is Caneel Bay resort which is much more up scale. PLenty of amleer places, camp gorunds or private villa rentals.

This site has some good info and I found it with Google.

This site has good general info

..and this one is good for doing research about any destination - I have used it for choosing accommodation at St Johns and Cozumel.

Are you decided on St Thomas in particular, or anywhere in the Virgin Islands? I would suggest you check out the Bitter End Yacht Club, on Vigin Gorda (BVI). It is amazing, and has villas available for a week. Link Accomadations for 2 can be had for $2150 for 5 nights or $3010 for 7.

Little Dix resort on Virgin Gorda was pretty sweet.

Thanks for the help-My wife wants to shop. I think we can have a nice trip at one of the other islands-less crowded.
