Okay, I think I know pretty much about football, but I can't comprehend this: during the Saturday playoff game against the Panthers, one of the announcers was describing how the Ram offensive scheme doesn't have a system for calling audibles.

    Why?

Mike Martz is a self-annointed deity, who must never be questioned.

I personally preferred Brett Favre's beautiful audible in overtime yesterday. He checked off the blitz, then called for the heave into two-deep coverage. :D

A lof of defenses audible back. So he may think it's pointless. And given that he's in the spread offense there are plenty of hot routes available no matter what the defense does. Plus if you send a man in motion and the defense reacts, the audible may get called automatically by what coverage the defense is in. It depends on how prepared his players are to think and react.

But then again. There may just be no audibles becasue he has a game plan.

Shades of John Wooden. He didn't study or plan for his opponents. He let them prepare for his team!

Baqui, are you a fellow Eagle fan or just a Packer hater?

Well I guess you're not a Packer hater.

Mike Martz is a p***y, and probably the most overrated coach in the NFL. No way the Rams should have lost this game....

Mike Martz is a putz. And an inconsistent one at that. His offense has the Painters down for the count with plenty of time to score a touchdown and he chooses to go for the.......tie! Usually that dumbass will take every single risk opportunity that is thrown on his plate, but in the biggest game of the year, he goes weak in the knees?

It seems like people want to criticize Martz for his risky decision-making over the course of the season and then they want to criticize for for going conservative when it is a lose-and-go-home situation.

Hadn't Bulger thrown 2 interceptions relatively late in the game? In other words, his performance was deteriorating. Seems like the good time to get careful.

I agree somewhat, but they had almost two minutes when they started taking there sweet azz time and couldn't make a decision...Bulger is pathetic and they should have gone for something in the endzone...

It has not been a pleasant playoff experience for coaches named Mike.

4th and 1...on the goalline...play for the sure tie for overtime at home?? or play for the win? how many coaches would have dove over for the TD?

Play to lose? Did you forget the Jacksonville game? Instead of going for a tie at 4 and goal at the 1, they went for it. They play to win.
