State Department issues worldwide caution to Americans abroad, warning of heightened threat of terror attacks including possible use of chemical or biological agents.

    Per CNN.

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

    :(

I think they're lying. We all know it's about the oil and Halliburton.

Of course we're going to be endangered abroad. duh! Try telling the rest of the world they're inferior idiots that will be turned over if they don't accept "god's gift" of "liberty" and see how they respond. Comes with the territory of talking our talk.

heypartner, for once you've posted something as dumb as a state department alert, and that's difficult to do. :p

How can you say that the words of the President justify violence and murder against Americans? That's ridiculous. By that logic, Americans should have been expected to murder a few immigrant Muslims after 9/11.

There's 2 of those in this thread now! :p

    From the Washington Post:

High on the Bush administration's list of justifications for war against Iraq are President Saddam Hussein's use of chemical weapons, nuclear and biological programs, and his contacts with international terrorists. What U.S. officials rarely acknowledge is that these offenses date back to a period when Hussein was seen in Washington as a valued ally.

Among the people instrumental in tilting U.S. policy toward Baghdad during the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war was Donald H. Rumsfeld, now defense secretary, whose December 1983 meeting with Hussein as a special presidential envoy paved the way for normalization of U.S.-Iraqi relations. Declassified documents show that Rumsfeld traveled to Baghdad at a time when Iraq was using chemical weapons on an "almost daily" basis in defiance of international conventions.

... In a September interview with CNN, Rumsfeld said he "cautioned" Hussein about the use of chemical weapons, a claim at odds with declassified State Department notes of his 90-minute meeting with the Iraqi leader.

You know what. Just the other day I was thinking about all the things that have taken place in recent history and so many of them (had they been 5-10 years ago) been in a movie, many people would not have given it any credence b/c it would have been thought to be too unrealistic.

I came up with about 10 or so that consisted of things from Columbine, to 9/11, to Andrea Yates, and so on.

The State department was responsible for Andrea Yates?? Ah, man...that can't be right.

It IS ridiculous. Why did you type the word "justify"? I did not type it, because I think that's a ridiculous statement. I'm talking cause and effect. Not justice and righteousness.

What is the point of this alert? Be on the look out for small planes spraying Anthrax as you visit the Pyramids? Make sure to pack your bio-hazard suit?

    From Iraq.

Do you know where Iraq got 'em?

    From your pal Ronald Reagan!

It's common knowledge that the Reagan Administration provided Saddam with chemical and biological weapons during the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s.

    Hmmm...politics makes strange bedfellows, eh!

Okay, well then how does what our elected leader says LEAD TO violence against the American people? Are the people in those countries so violent that they can't accept criticism from a democratically elected leader? France crticizes us all the time, that does not lead to the destruction of French people's property in the US.
