I went with a few friends to watch the Texans game at SRO at Westheimer and Gessner. When we got there we discovered that the door was locked. I grabbed my cell phone and called information. They connected me to SRO at FM 1960. The conversation went something like this:

Me: Do you still have a location in Woodlake Square.

SRO: It's not open right now.

Me: Will it be open later tonight?

SRO: No. It's not open right now.

    Me: So...it's gone?

SRO: Well...I don't know if it's gone. It's just not open...

    Me: ...right now. Ok...thanks.

Does anybody know what has happened to what has been the best sports bar in town? Are they closed temporarily for some reason, or is it closed for good? The other SRO location doesn't seem to know. :(

That SRO location was closed down because of a nasty malpractice lawsuit, wouldn't you know!

Really? That place is very close to my old stomping grounds. I wasn't aware it got shut down. I used to love going there... :(

Damn, that's too bad -- I loved that place!! One of the very best sports bars I've ever been to. The others are too far away from me, but I'm just down the road from Westheimer and Gessner.

We wound up going to Nick's Place. Excellent little bar. It's no SRO, but an acceptable substitute. It's not far away from you if you're close to SRO.

Yeah, I've been to Nick's place before. It's a good spot, but like you said, no SRO replacement. Perhaps it'll return after some time?

Personally, I like "Sansone's" near HW6 on Westheimer.

I just wish I knew for sure what was happening to SRO. Is it gone for good? Is it being remodeled?

    Somebody help me!!!
