    Yeah Spurs are damn good.

Grizzlies are damn good too they're coming back with Fratello but they're not gonna contend.

Suns very good too. Pistons same.

if we would get rid of all 3 PF's and sign yound athletic guys like malik allen and udonnis haslem like the heat did we would be great too.

all we need is some rebounding and athleticism. if we could move away from the luxury tax too we could use the full MLE to bring in others who can help.

Having a young and low payroll team can be dangerous though.

Money tends to become an issue.

I like the spurs so much because they have such a nice mixture of talent and age.

Their "gravy training GM" had little to nothing to do with it. I assume Popovich is still handling the dual duty over there.

The Spurs is Duncan and Duncan is the spurs. Duncan's greatness changed and made he franchise what it is now like Hakeem did for us. If the ping pong fell differently RICK Pitino will still be a Celtic coach and Pop would not have fired coach Hill. Coach Hill was just a great man and coach that was used by Pop for his selfish reasons and the press in this country and around San Antonio never let him have it for the utter rubbish and bush league move. Coach Hill deserved better - he deserved to coach Duncan and a healthy David Robinson together instead of being used by his GM.

I still have not really gotten over it - people now praising Pop for forcing Coach Hill to tank the season and sit the admiral out for a chance to land Duncan. The Spurs landed Duncan and Pop thought it was time to step in for a great Coach in Bob Hill who found himself in an awkward position.

    Shame on Pop

Wow - you sound bitter. Are you a fan of the Hill coaching clan (I forget which one coached the Spurs ;o))?

Didn't their GM (Buford) win Exec of the Year recently?

The Spurs are a model organization, to be honest. What have they done wrong? What is considered bad about them? Yes, Duncan is the focus of the team, but to act as if he's the *only* reason for their success if foolish.

Need a point guard? Find Parker.
Need someone to replace the Admiral? Sign Rasho.
    Need some spunk? Sign Rose.
    Need a slasher? Find Manu.
    Need a shooter? Sign Barry.

Whoever is making the decisions is doing a good job, whether it's Buford, Popovich, or the guy at the food court.

Yes I was a fan of coach Hill and I thought he was unfairly kicked out. I believe he would have have some success if not as much as Pop had he been given the opportunity to coach Duncan and Robinson together but Pop fired him and conviently named himself his successor.

bob hill is a terrible coach. he can't even land a gig with ncaa division 2 basketball programs. the spurs have the best front office in the nba and getting rid of that poor excuse of a coach was the best thing they could of done

I agree with you Fegwu about how Pop did Bob Hill dirty. I mean how was he supposed to win with David Robinson out pretty much that whole year? Then the guy not only fires him, but replaces him with HIMSELF. If I remember correctly, Pop didn't have a lot of coaching experience on his resume.

Because of that, to this day, I call Pop, "Self-Serving Boy".:D

Every one of the Spurs' supporting players would be nothing without Tim Duncan ... except for Brent Barry, who for some reason is nothing with Tim Duncan, and decent without him.

You're listing 6 pt, 7 reb, 42 percent shooting Rasho as some great player? Tony Parker can't hit the 3 and is a career 71 percent FT shooter- this guy is living off Duncan. Ginobili same thing. Bowen is a defensive specialist.

If CD had Tim Duncan, people would be praising him right and left!

I agree with you Freak, except for Ginobili. Ginobili seams to play his best ball with Duncan out.

Parker is a great PG and young as well. He pretty much outplayed Steve Nash against the Suns.

Let's face it. Spurs GM and Pop are great. They never made mistakes in signing Cato, MoT etc.

They are always conservative in signing players. All their contracts are reasonable, and they rarely overpay for players salary.

I love how you always quote yourself, but have nothing to say about it.

Why would you quote yourself, if you had nothing to say?

swap Yao and Duncan, I guarantee you Rocktes are a better TEAM than Spurs! TD makes everyone better. Not so much to do with GM. If CD had the chance to draft TD, believe me he would.
