I can't get over how bad the Spurs are looking right now. Damn..do they miss Manu or what?? Picking up Mason was a good move for them in the off-season but this team is still way too old. And with Manu out for awhile, I wonder how far of a hole they are going to get themselves into.

Does anyone know how long Ginobli will be out for? I hate the Spurs as much as anyone here but it will be really weird (but refreshing) at the same time if they miss the playoffs. Thoughts?

Knowing the "classy" Spers they will tank this season and end up getting the number one pick and then win 8 more championships in the twilight of Duncans career.

Here's to hoping they dig themselves a hole they desperately try to get out of, and get close enough to get a crappy pick in the draft but not enough to make the playoffs.

The Spurs will be fine when Manu returns and will make the playoffs. They don't care about being a top 4 seed. The only thing that matters to them is hitting on all cylinders when the playoffs start.

Bottom line: Only more injuries can keep them from the playoffs and I don't think they are a Finals contender even with Manu. But they still have some bite left. I wouldn't want to face them in the 1st round.

They better not dig themselves in a hole that they cannot dig out of.

but i rather have the hole collapse on them.

i agree, especially since it's only 3 games into the season. they haven't been embarassed in their past 3 games against playoff contenders (suns, blazers, mavs), they actually kept it competitive. in a western conference in which each team has 3 stars, when they have their third, they'll be rolling. i'm not a spurs fan, but tim duncan is still a top 5 player - you can't underestimate them.

I don't want them getting lucky with a lottery pick. Parker & Manu had health issues last season. They'll bounce back.

I hope they dig themselves a hole until Manure comes back, then go on a 21 game winning streak only to be ended by the Rockets, miss out on making the playoffs by one game, and get stuck with a mediocre end-of-the-lottery draft pick in the end. I hope Bowen breaks his leg in three places while trying to trip his man on D, too.

As much as I love the Spurs, I'm starting to convince myself that this once great team is finally on the verge of breaking down. It's sad, but it might be true.

P.S. Get Roger Mason on your fantasy teams right now!

Is Manu's injury still stemming from the Olympics?

Same goes for us... we have to make sure our team is healthy, and gel at the right time. Who cares we lost a close game to last year's champs this early in the season... people overreact so hard.

That figures. It's a risk you take anytime you draft an international player to be an important part of your team. This is why we should bomb China. Perhaps the Spurs can work some sort of deal where Argentina is wiped off the map, thus negating any olympic team contractual obligations from Manu or Scola :)
