this is not old news. I hope the Rockets aim their eye on him next year to come in if we don't have a solid SG.

He'll have to take a pay cut though. no more than $6 mil. for 2-3years.

he's been nothing but good to them, and it's not like he misbehaves and has a t-wack like huge contract.

But given the injury issues, do we really want him that badly? I guess Manu would be the best case scenario if we don't trade McGrady and just let him expire, but I'm not sure about it still.

Manu's dedication to the Argentine national team will end up costing him a lot of money. If he hadn't hurt himself, the Spurs would have taken care of him last summer. He's lost a lot of speed off his fastball. It would be a mistake for a team to sign Manu for what he did in the past because that guy is gone forever. The current Manu is not a special player.

I wouldn't mind going after Ray Allen or Ginobili this coming offseason. I'd actually prefer that to trading for Martin, Butler or Iguodala, especially if we had to lose Lowry and Scola to get one of those guys.

Spurs shafted themsleves with the Jefferson trade. They've only got the MLE to use next season and it's another knocked off Dunan.

Ginobili + rights to Splitter + expirings for McGrady + rights to Eliyahu (Lindsey's pick?)

Trading for McGrady allows them to evaluate him for the rest of the season. They'll be in position to re-sign him if they like what they see.

I would love Manu but he'll have to settle for MLE if he's ever going to be a Rocket playing along side his buddy Scola... His style is more in sync with our playing style. IMO.

I'd really like Manu on the team. He could really teach bud and jt. He's definitely one of those vets you want if you're Gonna build a championship team

Ahhh even if it's only a dream

    Brooks/Lowry
    Igoudala/C-Bud
    Ariza/Manu/l
    Dalembert/Landry
    Yao/Scola/Hayes/ Andersen

I don't know what I'd do with Shane. If I was Dm I'd bundle Shane and scola to a young team in need of vets and talent and we could get a young role player. Though I'd hate to party with sny of our rockets.

Makes no sense at all. If McGrady plays this season, every team will be in position to evaluate him. Plus, Pop isn't the kind of coach McGrady would respond to very well and the Spurs offense isn't geared to having a wing player hog the ball, trying to iso on the wing while the other players stand around and watch. For this season, Ginobilli is the superior player, especially for the Spurs. Lastly, giving up the rights to Splitter for basically nothing would be moronically stupid.

I've said it from the beginning and hopefully it's become more obvious now that McGrady and his contract aren't such the big prize after all. The only way Morey will get much in return is to drug the water of the other GM.

wow! ginobili along parker are the only ones playing well. I never like jefferson from the beginning and when losing weight goes bad again on Tim Duncan. Tim has gotten real soft im talking battier soft.

I'm pretty sure McGrady will get at the least a $8M contract somewhere. The Spurs need to make the most out of Duncan's remaining years.

Trading for McGrady allows them more than just adding a MLE player next season which is what they'll be limited to.

I don't believe the Rockets or McGrady can win with each other but at the same time I don't think he's done. Trading away McGardy for too little is going to make the Rockets look bad next season.

Splitter is getting paid and enjoying his life in Barcelona. If there's no enticement for him to head over to SA, the Rockets have Scola. The two are meant to be good friends. Scola named one of his kids after Splitter.

The Spurs want him to retire from international basketball but Manu doesn't want to. If it weren't for that they'd have no issue re-signing him.

Give him the MLE for 3 years after the season.

If SA does not bring him back, and we keep Scola, we will probably be his first choice.

definitely see what you're saying, and i'd tend to agree...

but maybe they really believe in George Hill as a scorer?

and It doesn't help having Jefferson eating away cap space next year. Dude has been a waste. I'm kinda happy they got him now.

Given his injury history, do you really think people will invest that kind of money in McGrady?

I think too much was made of McGrady's style not agreeing with Adelman's offense. Coach questioned his ability to contribute at all. To be a playmaking perimeter player you need some explosiveness. He hasn't shown much of that in a while.

Dudes and dudettes, perhaps we should all wait 'til the evening of the 18th to sort fact from fiction; then the next few days to hear about the 'near misses'. Relying on sacbee or philly.com or or or is def not value-adding.
