With all of the complaining regarding Rockets fans (mainly the lower bowl) not showing up, I found this article on San Antonio Express-News a bit interesting. The topic was also discussed on ESPN's "Around the Horn". (http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/...MYSA052107.03X.BKNspurs.notebook.3529103.html) Spurs-Jazz notebook: Opener doesn't sell out, a first for playoff game at AT&T Center Johnny Ludden Express-News When the Spurs knocked out the Suns to set up their meeting with the Jazz, more than a few people speculated the nation's viewing public wouldn't be too interested in watching the two small-market teams. Apparently, San Antonio isn't all that interested, either. For the first time in the five-year history of the AT&T Center, the Spurs didn't sell out a playoff game. The Spurs listed their attendance as 18,300, about 500 short of the 18,797 capacity. One section in the arena's southeast corner was nearly empty at tipoff and the top two rows in the north end zone also looked empty. They filled in somewhat by game's end, but not to capacity. The Spurs were obviously expecting greater demand because they allowed fans to purchase a limit of four tickets per person for the series' first two games. They also made the advance purchase tickets available only via phone and online sales.
This is like a "by" series for the Spurs. Jazz don't have chance in hell. Fans are just resting up for the finals. I don't blame em, although If it were the Rockets, I wouldn't care who was playing I would try to go to every game if I could.
Kinda like the Braves a couple years ago. The city is just so use to winning that one play-off game isn't that big a deal anymore.
Wow. This is San Antonio we're talking about. As much as I hate the Spers, their fans are rabid, mad dogs, or used to be. I am well and truly shocked.
HDTV >>> driving to a game and dropping duckets on the nosebleed section and overpriced refreshments.
And I thought Houston had a bad crowd. The Spurs win so much over the years that everyone that ever wanted to see a game in that city has already seen one so now nobody cares anymore. NHL/NBA ratings declining sharply someone needs to fire a commissioner.
we might have the four boringest teams left in the playoffs. all four teams are also defensive, half-court teams. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
What r u all talking about? The 90s team were defined by the half-court and low scoring games and the ratings were on par with those of 80s. Teams, like the Pacers, Knicks, Heat, Bulls, Nuggets, and even the Rockets had some pretty low scoring affairs throughout the playoffs in fact most game were around 75-95 pts. What so bad about that in doesn't matter in the NFL or baseball why should it matter basketball
