The Spurs are PATHETIC! Losing by 20 at home to the Shaqless Lakers?

They can kiss Tim Duncan's butt goodbye :D

I have to admit I got a kick out of Mark Madsen dropping a jump hook right in Duncan's face. That was classic! :D

The Spurs are the second best three point shooting team in the NBA. Today they shot 1-15. Steve Smith and David Robinson are usually good players. Today they shot a combined 2-17. If you think these marks are indicative of what the Spurs will do the rest of the season, then yes, the Spurs do suck. However, since all numbers are to the contrary, I choose to think of it as an off game. The Spurs will still finish off the Lakers in 4-5 games, imho.

The Spurs have yet to beat one of the elite teams in the NBA.

You all must be confused. It's the trailblazers who have no heart. Not the spurs. The spurs have much heart. More than enough to beat the lakers. Why you all believe they don't is beyond me. So they got swept last year. Shaq's been swept twice. Has he no heart either? Anyone, anyone ...

The Lakers without Shaq aren't elite, and neither are the Kings without Webber. The only really "elite" teams they've played are the Wolves and Mavs, and they did beat the Mavs in Dallas.

The way I look at it, the Spurs are a work in progress that will get better as the season goes along. They have a lot of players hurt, got a lot of new players this season, and are still 27-11 and on pace for about the same record as last year. Nothing wrong with that.

So, Cat, doesn't that mean that their loss to the "non-elite" Lakers is even worse now compared to losing to a Lakers team with Shaq?

Yeah, it's a bad loss, but I still wouldn't call it a "big game". For example, the Lakers have lost to all four of the last place teams in the NBA (Miami, Chicago, Memphis, GS), but I hardly think that means they can't win big games.

The Spurs don't need to go through an adjustment period all season. They've gone through it for how long now? They run the same stuff and get the same shakes during big games.

The Spurs have a knack of losing big games. Spurs beating Lakes in 4-5? Ha - ha. They need to prove that a little more during the regular season before I can believe that.

Shuq has always impressed me as one that is lacking in that dept. Take away kobe....put Shuq down 0-2 in a series...call the games correctly....and he'll fold like the paper tiger he is.

Hate to tell you but that's no fluke. The Spurs can't handle the pressure the Lakers guards put on the outside shooters, you might want to check their 3 point shooting in the Lakers series last season, the best 3 point shooting team in the league became one of the worst.

The Lakers are good at pressuring the outside shooters, they lead the league with opponents shooting only 29% on threes when they play the Lakers. Once and if Shaq gets back in shape, it'll allow the guards to play even harder and tighter on D, and it'll get uglier for the rest of the league

Ummm....put away your crack Cat. 4 to 5 games?!?!? The Lakers will finish off the Spurs in 4 to 5 games. Your homerism for Duncan gets a little far sometimes. He is awesome, but his team is pathetic. I am no Laker fan by any means, but I am not going to be ignorant enough to say they suck more then the Spurs.

Wow, I'm amazed by this win. Did not think the Lakers were going to win, but the role players stepped up.

The 25th should be interesting to say the least.

You are dilusional. Your "off-game" bs is still bs. You used it with Simms and you're using it here.

Do you want to add to our bet? $20 is still on for 59 wins, which the only reason they have many wins now is b/c of the extrodinary luck of playing teams with injured stars. (Don't make me list em).

"In [your] honest opinion," the Spurs will finish the Lakers in 4-5 games. Let's double our bet. A game ticket ($20 value) for the regular season wager, and now let's make it another game ticket (still $20) for playoffs. Since there's a chance that the Spurs and Lakers won't face eachother, let's just make it straight up who will advance further.

So if they both get knocked out in the 1st round, it is a draw (just like if the Spurs get 58 wins like last year).

    You down with this?

Fine with me... bad games happen, whether you choose to acknowledge it or not.

Hate to tell you but that's no fluke. The Spurs can't handle the pressure the Lakers guards put on the outside shooters, you might want to check their 3 point shooting in the Lakers series last season, the best 3 point shooting team in the league became one of the worst.

Sorry, I can't accept the Spurs missing wide open three after wide open three as a part of the Laker defense.

I guess some people never learn.

The Spurs swept the Lakers once, and the Lakers came back two years later and did the same to the Spurs. Who's to say SA can't do the same?
