Spurs running a clinic on winning without superstars....Rockets need to take a lesson

As i watch this spurs team completely dominate the thunder i wonder how and the hell is this happening? Aren't championship teams built on superstars. History would definitely support this claim but the surgical clinic that the spurs are putting on should give everyone hope that our team can win without a top 5 player. As long as you have great coaching, ball movement, solid defense maybe there is a chance to go deep in the playoffs without a superstar.

Consider the spurs team...2 out of their 3 best players are past their prime, their overall talent on paper isn't very good and yet they are currently the best team in basketball. We all know that Morey is fantastic at acquiring good players but has not been able to acquire the big piece. I have been on the bandwagon for years that the only way a team can win a championship is if you have a top 5 player.

Good team chemistry, value each possession, solid team defense, penetrating PG, and last but not least a rim protector that can defend the basket. If you have these attributes you will have a chance to win, and win big. Instead of focusing on acquiring a "carmelo anthony" focus on achieving these attributes in your team regardless of superstar. This is an approach that can last for years because it isn't the players that make your team, it is the system. The spurs have perfected this system and it seems that they can plug any player into it and the player will produce at a maximum level. In any case knowing my luck the spurs will get blown out in the 4th quarter but i just thought i'd throw my 2 cents in. This spurs team is extremely impressive and i hope one day my rockets can do this to the opposing team deep into the playoffs.

Are you serious? They have 3 of the top 16 players in terms of PER. They have plenty of super stars.

Absolutely and completely true. I feel sure that every FO and coaching staff in the league is taking notice.

And I projected before the start of the play offs that the Spurs would be challenging the best playoff record. I was informed it is the one loss that Philly suffered

Just because they have a small market team doesn't make their big 3 scrubs. Parker, Duncan, Ginobli are super stars in my books.

They do not play as if they have to take advantage of super star's iso. And I would posit that their super stars are not of the caliber of OKC or Miami. But their offense and its schemes are peerless.

Even if we pretended like all you said was true, Popaviches don't grow on trees.

Seriously no superstars on the Spurs team? You must not know why they have what is call the big 3.

It's cool, I mean Pops isn't a HOF coach, Tim Duncan isn't a future HOFer, Parker has had a terrible season and the supporting cast of Leonard, Jackson, Diaw, and Ginobili mean nothing.... Yeah right:rolleyes:

I've been wondering when I could use this really sad chop of mine to answer a question.
