Interesting. I'd say fair contract. His 3 point shooting value is high high high. 4 straight years over 41%. Plus a solid defender. Implications with regard to LMA?
Does SAS have Danny's Bird Rights? If so, I think they just operate in the luxury tax. It depends on who signs first. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That's a really solid deal for them. I'm really surprised he took less to say, I always thought he was a $ first type of guy.

It might be a "slight" discount. I wouldn't call it absurd. $10+ million a year. Aminu got 4 years, $30 million. That was overpaid. He should have get more like 4 years, $20 million. Green at 4 years, $45 million vs. Aminu at 4 years $20 million seems fair... But Aminu got overpaid. In the sense that the early guys set the market, and people seem to be spending big... PERHAPS then it seems to be a bigger discount than he might have otherwise got... ... but otherwise it seems fair.
If there ever was a such thing as a player owing a team anything it's Danny Green for the Spurs not giving up on him and providing the opportunity and being surrounded by pros and Pops to push him. 5 years ago he was barely treading water getting cut and assigned to Dleague etc and could've easily flaked out of the NBA. This is good for both Green and the Spurs.
Five years ago he was actually playing for a Slovenian club Union Olimpija. GM surrounded him with trash and expected he will lead the team at least to 2nd stage of Euroleague. He has been playing good, but we expected more. Then a lot of us were absolutely astounded at his starting role with Spurs. So I'll agree on that one, Pop made him into the player he is today.
Looks like the Spurs are overpaying. I'm guessing that it will be considered cheap after the next salary cap increase.
