David Robinson is a WUSS! He just crawled back in his shell. What a WIMP! The Lakers have NO RESPECT for David. 5 Dunks in the second half by Kobe Bryant! How can the Spurs allow that? David is going to have to go STRONG to the basket and not take those wimpy 15 ft jumpers. I'm not a Laker fan by NO MEANS! However, I just don't see how the Spurs are going to beat the Lakers with their WIMPY ATTITUDE! I knew David would turn into the wimp just as he did against Hakeem and the Rockets in 1995.

    Lakers in 5!

How do you let Kobe Bryant penetrate like that? You can't do that if you expect to win. Someone has to step up and play a little defense and stop him from getting to the rim over and over again.

NBC showed a shot chart for Kobe Bryant, and there were an insane amount of those little green dots(signifying made shots) around the basket. I don't care if its Wilt freakin' Chamberlain, contest his shot! He can't get get uncontested lay-up after lay-up!

Hakeem Olajuwon would've contested his shot.

The Spurs should have FOULED and I mean FOULED HARD Kobe Bryant! Send a message to him that you CAN'T come into the Paint and Dunk so easily! That was the most pathetic game I have EVER seen the Spurs play. No team in their right mind would have allowed Kobe to just waltz right to the basket. Not much you can do about Shaq down in the paint but don't let Kobe drive so easily to the basket. We'll see on monday if the Spurs can get tough!

    Rich is right,

I find it so hard to cheer for a team with a wuss on it.

Reminds me of the frustrations of rooting against Bill Lambier. geez... Why do I get stuck rooting for wusses like Mr Neighborhood and wanting to punch Bill Lambier.

Why don't they double Kobe? When he wasn't driving to the hoop, he was shooting easy fadeaways over 6-4 Daniels. Now sportswriters are saying that he should be the one with the MVP, after one game. Let Kobe face triple-team after triple-team and still put up 45 before they recount the MVP votes.

    ZRB,

Guards are not easy to double team. It's so much easier to double a post player and get the ball out of his hands than it is a guard, especially a superstar Guard like Kobe.

And Robinson is 35 years old. I don't like the guy, but to blame him for what happened is silly. No one can stop Shaq. The better team won today, plain and simple.

Whether you are 35 or 95, it doesn't take much skill to FOUL a person that continues to dunk to the basket. You don't let someone smaller than you DUNK inside without putting up some kind of fight. All David had to do was ONE hard slap on the wrist of Kobe - not a flagrant just something to make him think twice about coming to the basket.

David was not the only one guilty of being soft. Other players just stood underneath the basket and watched the Kobe highlights too. However, David is supposed to be the Veteran leader on the team and needs to be more aggressive in game 2 or the Spurs are going to be SWEPT!

They lost because they shot 33.3% from the 3pt line. The Spurs were the NBA season leaders at 40.7%. Case in point. Spurs cut the lead to 10 and have some momentum in the 4Q. Porter clanks one off the rim from the corner.

The Faker$ were totally in a rhythm on offense (taking 5 more shots than their seasons' average). If the Spurs don't "up the tempo" and get easier transition baskets, they are in serious trouble regardless of hard fouls on Kobe.

Get used to it. Kobe was lighting the Spurs up during the regular season, too... with or without Derek Anderson, the Spurs can't seem to stop the guy.

Did you guys happen to watch the game? Blaming David isn't the answer. My problem with this game was why on earth in the biggest game of your season do you play David Robinson 30 minutes when he is in no foul trouble and is playing well? He should've played at least 35-40. When Kobe really got hot and made the majority of moves to the basket was when the Spurs had the 6'8 Malik Rose at center, which was simply ridiculous. Very poor coaching by Pop combined with out of character turnovers and missed threes was what lost this game for the Spurs, not Kobe Bryant. But don't count on it again. Spurs in 5.

Bryant wants desperately to be like Jordan. If I were San Antonio, I'd do what Detroit did -- foul him like Jordan.

Here's an abridged version of Jordan's offensive development:

Dunk-->Dunk-->Dunk-->[Enter Detroit (Laimbeer, Mahorn, Rodman, Edwards, Salley)]-->Hard Foul-->Fade-Away Jumper-->(Detroit Championship)

    ...

If Houston intends to do anything in the West, they better find some tough (and motivated), front-court players (because Olajuwon won't be able to stop O'Neal or Duncan).

Man, if only the NBA had a rule where play-off teams could rent players from non-play off teams. Hakeem could step into that Spur uni for the spring and show David how to play like a man. Heck, the Spurs could have used Willy Purdue last night. They should have picked up another 7-footer scrub during the season, maybe a Dudley or even Ostertag. Having the 6"8" Malik Rose playing Shaq is just not right.

The reason Bryant is able to go off is because he is not the main focus of the defense, Shaq is. When the defense is worried about what your teammate is going to do, and only half-guarding you as a result, it's easy to have a field day. Bryant can't be doubled because he's not the best player out there, Shaq is. Doubling Bryant would not be smart -- that's like teams doubling Pippen and leaving Jordan open.

I still maintain that the problem is not the Spurs interior defense. Their offense was TERRIBLE. 33% from the arc and 15 turnovers leading to 20 LA points (almost all in transition).

IMHO, a major reason was a subtle adjustment by Jackson - Kobe guarded Terry Porter and totally stymied the Spurs offense. Meanwhile, genius Popovich never ONCE posted Antonio Daniels who was guarded by Derek Fisher!

NO WAY the SOFTIE SPURS win 4 in a row. There is NO WAY! I watched that game from start to finish. It is DAVID's fault. It is common sense for a player that if you aren't making your outside shots, you attack the basket! You get a higer percentage shot, possibly a continuation foul and gain more confidence in your play. That's exactly what Kobe did to the Spurs. Spurs don't have the Heart of the Champion. The don't have a fiery leader like we did. They are just a bunch of Sissies that are going to LOSE IN 5!
    Lakers in 5!

Lakers have a better team. Kobe is in a different world, no one can stop him right now. Bring in DA and he will tear him up the same way he is doing to daniels. Shaq cant be stopped. Lakers are just too good, hands down.
