Rockets are only 1/2 game behind! Wow  All this without Yao Ming in the line up! If we can keep this up, do you think 4th seed is possible? Given that Dallas, Phoenix, and Utah is pretty much leave everyone else in their divisions in the dust. With Yao back, this team can make some noises in the playoffs.

If we finish with a better record than the Spurs and Jazz, we would be the 3rd seed. I still think the Spurs will have a big late season run. Hopefully we can keep up.

maybe i shouldn't be shocked, but I am. It is very strange to see spurs this vulnerable

if we have more wins than spurs, we will likely end up with 3rd seed. jazz will be the 4th - i don't want rox facing lakers in the first round.

They're 2-4 on their Rodeo Road Trip so far, and they close it out with a back-to-back against the Nets and Pistons. This is usually a trip in which they win nearly every game.

This is clearly not the same Spurs team as in years past. They'll still likely win around 55 games, but they're probably out in the 2nd round again.

It seems like age and a weaker bench is really catching up to them. I definitely think we can finish with a better record.

other then the big 3 (Flopu, Mr. Longoria, Big Fundamental), no one has really stepped up in that team, the 2 headed center position of Oberto and Elson have played crappy, making Duncan have to work more and therefore he's more tired later in the game. Horry/Finley/Barry/Jaque Vaughn/ have all been ineffective. I know Pops wanted to have a veteran group around the big 3, but that group is way above 30, I believe above 35. Duncan is 30 years old, Pops better revamp that bench if he wants to squeeze out as much rings from the Duncan era.

I guess when you play 20 extra games every year, it starts to take its toll.

I agree. Their bench is weak and old. Barry and Horry are in their late 30's. Bowen is the same age and is not the defender or shooter he once was. They have no effective centers. Beno Udrih has been disappointing(except ironically for that game the Spurs came back from 19 down against the Rockets). And frankly Duncan is an old 30. There's a lot of mileage on those legs thanks to all the playoff runs.

There's enough talent and experience there that they could win a title this season if they get favorable matchups in the playoffs, but they're no longer the kind of team that can beat anyone.

i tihnk they're going to make a run after all-star break. hopefully the rockets can make a trade which will give them a big boost until yao gets back.

i think it's very possible to land the 3rd seed this spring.

How exactly is Pop being exposed as not being that good a coach? He has less to work with this season. Bowen's droppoff has been dramatic. He is a shell of his former self. Horry is a fossil. Beno won't develop; I don't blame Pop for putting him behind Vaughn. He's gotta get better.

The team is just worn out and Pop has less to work with. It's Pop the GM (along with RC) that is the problem, not Pop the head coach.

What's wrong with Ginobili these days? He used to be such a weapon, now it seems he is almost as turnover-prone as our man V-Span and just isn't the same player he once was...

Ginobili was their best player yesterday. He's been playing well lately

The game was close until the fourth, then Wade simply took over and did his magic...he dismantled the Spurs in the fourth.

He's still pretty good and plays wells on most nights. There isn't a player on the entire Spurs roster that troubles me as much as Ginobili does...he's a very high IQ player and a slasher, which is pretty valuable thing to have in the NBA these days.
