By watching the last few weeks of the season I believe that SA will be the hardest matchup for the rox. For one we cant win in SA 1997 was the last time we won there. Second the Spurs are 8-4 w/o TD and one of those wins was against us. Third I think SA has one of the Deepest benches. Forth TD is coming back this week to shake off the rust for the playoffs. If he is 100% come playoff time I dont like Houston's chances.
you're right ! they are the thoughest matchup for the Rockets but also fo the other top teams. But if Yao plays upto his potential, the Rockets can sneek and make some noise.
the spurs present a problem to the other 28 teams in the league too if duncan is healthy if we do somehow play the spurs this year in the playoffs i welcome it because the rockets will have to bring their A game consistently if they ever wish to win a championship and i think a matchup with the spurs may bring it out
If Duncan is healthy, they are the favorite to win it all. However, I don't think he is, so they may be somewhat vulnerable. Regardless, no one wants to meet them in the first round. They are a team "made" for the playoffs.
despite all their injuries, the spurs are still playing very well..... hell, the scored 130+ on the second night of a back to back that included 2 double OT's - w/o Duncan, Rasho, or Ginobili! holy ****! the Spurs present the hardest matchup for any team in the league.
The way I see it, the match up with Spurs the only thing we need is a big bruising PF that can hold his own defending Tim Duncan, otherwise I'm confident we can beat the spurs. Maybe a limited minutes Mutumbo on Tim Duncan and go from there?
What happened when we meet the Spurs in Western Conference final? I think we're pretty much screwed if we got to WCF and Spurs have a fresh healthy Tim Duncan.
We need more than a bruising PF to beat the Spurs. You need to add a pt. guard and a 6'6" and up Combo 2/3 guy. Another thing the Rockets lack is mental toughness.
Masters of the obvious If we play the Spurs at ANY time in the playoffs, we will definitely lose, they are simply a much better team that has experience/depth/age on their side. There is a reason why the Spurs are a favorite to win it all, they are easily the best team in the league, so any team that loses to the Spurs has nothing to be ashamed of, they would've been simply beaten by a superior team.
you bring up a good point. it may behoove us to face the Spurs earlier when they're weaker then later on when Duncan is healthy. So we either sweep them in the first round or win in 6 later on.
