I mean, sure, I respect Duncan the player but it has nothing to do with him staying with the Spurs. They are one of the best teams in the NBA and he just paid at a level he probably couldn't get on the open market anymore.

They put their fans through a year of forced cellar dwelling. Dominique Wilkins was the only entertainment they had. The least Duncan could do for the fans is sign for life. He probably owes Rick Pitino a house too.

Great player & organization. They deserve each other in a positive way.

Not so fast. He's not a foundational piece anymore. He's just an asset waiting to be traded...

Probably, but if TD decides to hang it up early, Pop might also.

    Kobe Bryant
    Dirk Nowitzki

Short of them being drafted by other teams and subsequently traded to the teams they have spent their entire careers with, I don't see the difference (okay so Bryant did demand a trade and later rescind it).

TD is one of the best ever. However, I think him resigning with the Spurs is good news for the rest of the NBA. The Spurs will not be a real title contender for the next three years even if they continue to have the best records in the regular season.

No, Kobe was a Hornet first. He made a big stink about being drafted by the Hornets and demanded a trade to the Lakers.

you are crazy, i dont have time to go bring the link again but go to basketball reference and check his per 36 stats....this past season he performed at the same level per minute as his MVP seasons a decade ago.....Tim is the same beast he was back in the day, he just gets more regular season rest THAT IS ALL. Im a huge spurs fan, I hate when people say this stuff....literally identical per minute numbers to what he's done his entire career this past season

This is not what happened. Revisionist history. The Lakers and Hornets had a deal in place to trade for the pick no matter who was there.

You are wrong my friend, he is still a solid player but no where near the beast he use to be. He is regarded by most as the greatest pf ever, he is now the 3rd option on his team. He use to score regularly on double teams and could guard any PF/C one on one, teams guard him one on one these days. There is a reason the Spurs haven't won a title or had a finals appearance since 07 and it's not cause of TP. Since 08 or 09 Tony has been the best player on his team. Tim is at best a top 30 maybe 40 player in the league. For years Tim was top 2, either him or Shaquille or Tim or Kobe.

bro check out his per 36 numbers....identical to his rookie and sophomore seasons....yes the media and the world doesn't consider him a star bc his numbers are wayyyyyyy down, but thats due to lower minutes so he can be fresh in the postseason....but you can be the minutes he does play are at the same high clip he's always performed at and his per 36 proves it
