according to the sports talk shows here in SA, the spurs have a very good chance at signing 2 free agents this offseason: grant hill & mo peterson imo, those are fantastic signings for them, as hill is the consummate professional (yet is still hungry to get out of the first round), and mo pete - at 30 years old - is an excellent shooter who wouldn't mind coming off of the bench. hill also provides them with a slasher, which they have been looking to add for a couple of years now. i hate to see the spurs get better, as they are our rivals, but this move would definitely do it.
NOOOOOO that would be the best aquisition in the off season... Argh not giving anything up but adding Key pieces to a chapionship team.... Damn the two people I wanted to be on the Rockets...!!!!!
The over the hill former superstar gravy train to San Antonio has officially left the station. I hear Karl Malone has been working out recently...
Your telling me Grant Hill wouldn't be awesome coming off the bench"?? Your crazy not to think that... He can still handle the ball and guess what he is a way better outside shooter than T-mac...
oh, also high on their rumored "draft wish list" is nick fazekas. that allows them to drop matt bonner and replace him with someone that could immediately do the same things (knock down an open shot from the 4 spot) and eventually develop into a solid rotational player. also high on their rumored "draft wish list" is morris almond, for obvious reasons: can shoot, great size, good kid.
Yeah, his 16% three point shooting last year was a mere hiccup on his way to a deadeye 25% career from beyond the arc.
I seriously doubt Grant Hill is going to go to the Spurs. I remember hearing that he will either retire or resign with the Magic for vet's min. He was saying how the organization stuck by him while he was injured and he wanted to give back to them or something. If he does sign with the Spurs or any other team for that fact, I'd be a little disappointed in him.
He kinda fell out of the rotation with Anthony Parker, and the coaches/GM seem to like Parker. I think he'll be looking for some other team where he could duplicate his career year 05-06.
On a team like the Spurs, they will thrive because they aren't playing big minutes (like Finley and Brent Barry). On our team, we would need/want them to play at least 20 mins per which renders them pretty ineffective.
I'm surprised they could get both with only the MLE. Are both Mo Pete and Grant Hill willing to sign for less than the MLE? If so, how much?
It's the opportunity to get the ring that makes them sign for cheap. And it's not like Hill doesn't have enough money already.
LOL OMG since your so high on stats there buddy boy ..... Which by the way you are right he hit 16% from the 3 pt line... You forgot to mention he was 2 for 12 for the SEASON!!!!! We don't want him hitting 3pointers... we want him driving to the basket and making perimeter 2pt plays.. Mid - Jumpers yes I know you young folks hate that word Mid-Jumper but its not like he wasn't good at it.. For god sakes the man hit an amazing 50%+ on his FG.. If anything Grant Hills FG% has been better than Tracy's for almost all of his career and we know Grant is old but he played 30 min on average last year and we don't want him playing that many down here but how about 20min + ???? Seriously you should look up T-macs 3pt % vs his 2pt % its a HUGE diff... Basically T-mac sucks as a 3pt specialist... So Swingman off the bench playing 20+ min will proably average 10-15 ppg with around 4-5 rebounds and a HIGH efficiency in shooting not to mention he has high Basketball IQ on the court... is perfect considering Bonzi is going to comeback and take significant minutes from the bench as well....
grant hill is a great addition to ANY team. as has been pointed out, he is an excellent shooter - in large part because he knows his own strengths and weaknesses. he knows how to hit the midrange j, he knows how to get to the rack and he knows 3 pointers are his kryptonite. at 15-20 minutes per night, he will be exceptional on any team.
