This lawsuit will fail. It makes a false assumption that minorities can't run at large which is going to be in charge of the mostly white neighborhoods as well. Perhaps the way to see a minority on the school board is for one to run a good campaign and get community support instead of suing the school district.

Just like all the women who complain about not enough women in STEM are art majors and gender basket weaving professionals. They want to see others lead and make the changes they want in society, but are unwilling to actually do the work themselves. Most white people have no qualm about voting for a minority if they run a good campaign. Obama more than proved it on a grand scale. Our city has seen diverse leadership as well in recent decades. Also demographically, for example, if Hispanics vote for their own, which they don't HAVE TO, like people might assume, then they should have no issue getting a member of Hispanic blood (not really a GREAT reason to vote because what about their ability and policy?). Also, some simply choose to abstain. No one is taking their choice away and no one is disaffecting their vote so this lawsuit has no ground to stand on.

Personally, if someone is white and has terrible policy and a minority has a better policy and ideas, they get my vote any day. I think it's the same for a lot of voters who aren't racist. That is another issue with the suit. It assumes that racism is why people vote and why there are outcomes, but it does so without being able to quantify it and back it up. I doubt most people care about what skin color or heritage someone has. That way of thinking, whether it's you vote for a darker person because you dislike whites, or the opposite, has to stop. It's only going to perpetuate further racism. This lawsuit is itself of that older hateful and paranoid school of though which needs to die out.

I encourage any minorities reading this to run on your merit and ignore hateful people who want to make you and your work about race.
