I think I just heard on ESPN that the Knicks and Kings are trying to put together a deal that would send Sprewell to the Kings for Peja and Gerald Wallace. This is definitely a sign Webber wants to stay in Sacramento. ------------------ The Smurfs were Communists
Interesting......VERY interesting. ------------------ My doctor says I am bipolar. I am going to get a second opinion. I have never had intimate desires for polar bears.
all i can say about this (if it goes through) is WOW. that is really impressive on the kings part. shoring up pg in a HUGE way by getting bibby, if they add spree to the mix. theyve got a GREAT lineup. divac, webber, turkoglu, spree, bibby thats a force to be reckoned with. ------------------ president of the sleepy floyd to hall of fame club. http://www.it-is-truth.org http://members.fortunecity.com/omar369
It should be illegal to have that many good players in the West. Maybe they should just make the East the new CBA! ------------------ Anger is a weed. Hate is a tree.
Love this if the kings can pull it off, nice lateral thinking, Webber wants to play with Spreewell, so lets bring Spreewell to Sactown and wow that is a great line-up. Just wondering is Peja big enough to play the 3 if o that is a rather deadly shooting duo in Houston and Peja and maybe the NY fans would go for it, as PJ had a sensational game when the Kings played in NY last year. ------------------ "The things I enjoy most, I suck at: 1) Sex: everything's fine until she makes noises." - Achebe
New York officially enters rebuilding mode, and the Kings become a contender. A backcourt of Michael Bibby and Latrell Sprewell? Whoa! The Kings do this in a heartbeat. ------------------ "Win if you can, lose if you must but always cheat!" - Jesse Ventura [This message has been edited by RocksMillenium (edited June 29, 2001).]
It can't work capwise. Sprewell makes $11,142,000.00 in this, the second year of a 5 year, $61.9 million contract. Peja is going into the first year of his extension - 6 years, $45 million. That leaves him with a salary of $5,714,285.71 (yes, that is the exact figure) this season. Draft picks count for nothing in trades, so Wallace's salary doesn't count. According to RealGM, Sacramento has no trade exceptions, and I can't remember any trade that they have consumated recently in which they would get a trade exception, not even the rest Bibby-JDub trade. Not gonna happen unless Sacramento throws in more players. ------------------
realGm has Peja's salary at 1.3 mill, if it actually is 5.7 then if you throw in Barry and Funderburke which are about 2.5 million each then the kings will have at least 10 million in salary which should get the job done. ------------------ "The things I enjoy most, I suck at: 1) Sex: everything's fine until she makes noises." - Achebe
I didn't think the west could possibly get any tougher, yet it is. Marbury, and now Sprewell? Damn the Rocekts may break the record they set last year. Next year they just might find themselves back in the lottery if they fail to top 50 wins. ------------------ A desirous Mo Taylor is better than a prude Chris Webber. Peja will have 1st year BYC issues too, meaning a 3rd team likely will need to be involved... Uh, hi Houston? Uh, yeah we need your help. Please take Pollard from us. We're begging you. ------------------ "I think alot of people find Cato's game to be very offensive." -aelliott, comparing the offensive skills of Kelvin Cato and Michael Olowokandi
Does Spree have any contractual say about this? Does Spree love Webber that much? Does it seem to anyone like Rich Adelman is the WRONG coach for this bunch? ------------------ "How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak. Because someday you will have been all of these."
You're exactly right. That would reunite Adelman and Spreewell. This trade isn't going to happen with Adelman as the coach. ------------------ President of the Eddie Griffin fan club.
I don't think the knicks are stupid enough to do this trade. Spree is their best player! Peja is a good shooter, but Wallace is only a kid(who can't shoot). NY will riot the streets if that trade goes down. ------------------
Oakley was only half right, its 60% of the GMs that are on stuff. Id imagine Christie would be involved in this though but dang the west just gets rougher and rougher. ------------------ Ziggy
Smegmeister - perhaps you were looking @ last years salary? Peja is $5,600,000 for 2001-2002. Still a long way to match Sprewell's contract. Barry, Funderbuke or Pollard get's it closer, but will SAC part with 'em and does NYK want them? Part of the Kings success is the "Bench Mob" of which all 3 are a part (esp. Barry & Pollard). Not to mention - do the Kings let Christie walk? His salary is close to Sprewell's but the Knicks are back to splitting time with Houston, Rice & Christie. Same problem, different day. ------------------ Raef to Rocks....sooner or later! [This message has been edited by GATER (edited June 30, 2001).]
Smeggy--Peja has always been a 3. He's a legit 6-9. In fact, when the Kings go small, he plays some minutes at the 4. Not much, though. Also, I know Adelman coached Golden State while Spree was there, but did they hate each other? It was PJ Carlisimo who got the chokehold. ------------------
Ummmmm...didnt the Kings just trade away their problem child (Williams), why adopt another. The fans in Sacto would riot if they get rid of Peja. ------------------ "What do I know, I'm just a girl"
