Sportsline.com eluded to this in their Ray Allen/Payton article I just read.

Knicks get there PG they have been looking for and the Bucks have the defensive backcourt of Payton and Sprewell. Karl has to love that.

But again, if Payton can't get resigned after this season then the Bucks are out a PG.

In light of the Allen/Payton trade, it makes sense. The Bucks will be killer in the backcourt defense with Payton and Sprewell.

New York finally did something right in getting a good point guard. Considering how Cassell helped us smoke them in '94, I guess they figured if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.!

Very good deal all around. The Bucks have instantly become a conference title contender. They have a veteran, defensive-minded backcourt that is playoff tested and willing to take over a game. They become VERY deep now that they have Redd and Thomas off the bench. Desmond Mason gives them another big time scorer. The Bucks will D up on people now, and the fact that Milwaukee is already in playoff position helps the Bucks move up the playoffs standings instead of having a new team trying to come together and chase a berth. They have time to gell. The Sonics got a legit center and a big time go-to guy. Their only problem is PG. The Knicks finally get the legit PG that they need, and next year with Cassell, Houston and McDyess become a playoff threat, especially if they can get a serviceable center. Good job all-around.

ESPN just reported that the Knicks and Bucks asked for an extention to make the Cassell-Sprewell trade because of Salary Cap issues the Bucks were trying to figure out for the Sonics trade. ESPN will report anything as soon as they hear anything about it.

Whoa, bucks have trade there top 3 players in less than a year. They are going to be a pretty good team with Payton\Spreewell\Mason\Redd. Although Payton and Spree are getting up there with age.

Talent-wise, the Bucks are as good as any team in the East now.

Yeah, in the east. They wouldn't even be a playoff team in the west. Still have one of the weakest front courts in the league.

Place your bets, here! How long before Spreewell strangles Karl?

ESPN news says the Cassell for Sprewell trade was not made. There may be one more trade that the NBA lawyers are going over but it DOES NOT include Sam Cassell or Latrell Sprewell.

Wow. Sam is gonna explode. He goes from the starting point, controlling the team on the floor, to second banana. This will be interesting to watch play out, to say the least.
