There's a statistic on 82games.com that has the player's stats with the jumper. It shows effective field goal percentage along with how many of those shots were assisted.

Here are some stats for the current roster along with Steve and Cuttino.

    JJ 53% 71%
    Mo 43% 60%
    Spoon 45% 78%
    Ward 56% 63%
    Lue 48% 44%
    TMac 45% 53%
    JHow 42% 67%
    Yao 41% 58%
    Boki 41% 89%
    Padgett 53% 83%
    Sura 39% 45%

    Steve 38% 28%
    Cuttino 48% 59%

The higher the percentages, the better the player is at catch and shoot. Ward and JJ are basically the best spot up shooters on the current roster. Padgett has got some decent numbers too even though he doesn't shoot a lot.

Yao is only 41% because 90% of his shots are not jump shots. Baby hooks and slams are his money shots.

Interesting stats. And I checked Cato's effective % and it was horrific. Having Howard in the starting lineup will be a big boost to our offense. And I think JVG's defensive scheme will mitigate the loss of Cato on defense.

cato helped lock up the interior on defence. however, he was too slow to ever rotate to or from the perimeter. howard will help with that, but yao is still the lone shot blocker in the starting line-up.

SHHHH.... don't tell people that Howard is good. There are people on this board who really hate Howard - they would make the agruement that Howard's stats are infated b/c he played on bad teams... nevermind that those same people want to trade Howard for Tyson Chandler - who has put up worse numbers on worse teams.

I think Juwan Howard might have his shooting percentage increase due to the exaggerated defenses that are played against the Rockets. Mo got some wide open looks last year when he was paired with Yao in the frontcourt. Juwan should get those open looks this year which should directly affect his FG percentage.

Sura had a 33% effective field goal percentage on jumpers with the Pistons. 71% of those shots were assisted. This means Sura does not catch and shoot well like Steve.

Yep, this is exactly why Sura should not and will not be starting. He hopefully will be an energy guy and change of pace.
