Doing the best I can to recap as he talks. - Thinks they can get a lot better which is encouraging - Shot poorly the other night and still were in the game so they must be doing somethings right. - TO's still too high but attributed to new guys still trying to get used to each other. - Defense and rebounding is good enough to keep them in games a lot of times just have to hit enough shots. - Luther Head: He likes the big shot and wants to take them and Luther thinks he will make all shots. - Shane Battier: The glue of the team, passes to Yao well, takes the toughest defensive assignment. He is a marvel. - Bonzi Wells: Status same as it was, something could happen soon but they will see, still working hard to get in shape, "hope it changes soon". - Yao's technical was the most bizarre call of the year. - On tape, three missed layups by Yao - two he was pushed in the back, rebounded one and went back up to only get hit harder with no call. - Had coaches tell him they will be extra physical with Yao until the refs start calling it. - Said thank you and said he appreciates all the fans as he sees they (we) are a big reason why they have gotten off to a good start especially at home. I didn't recap everything he said but just the points that were most relevant. Certainly, anyone can fill in any blanks or post things I may have missed.
On that last play down 3 against Minn when Garnett was blanketing TMac, I he would've passed to his right. Who was that over there in the corner? sigh
It's time to get on nba.com and write Stern about Yao and the refs. It just gets so frustrating to watch our guy get abused by guys who should be fouling out.
CD is the most boring interview of all time, he never says anything substantial. But, he is RIGHT about Yao, someone needs to get another fine. I think Yao should be the one that says something... DD
A caller questioned him about Bonzi(sounded like a BBS'r) and He said he was asked about Bonzi everyday, He was sort of vague in responding that he expected something to happen with Bonzi very soon. The way he said it you could have read it either way - either he will be activated or traded.
"Luther Head: He likes the big shot and wants to take them and Luther thinks he will make all shots." This what i call f**king confidence! I like that, and the ladies like that too. I like luther, he has that winner mentality.
Yao should just forget about trying to shoot or pass, and just hand the refs the ball the next time he is pushed and shoved around the paint and there are no calls. It will definitely make a point.
I saw that, too. Not sure if he didn't see Luther or if he just wanted the shot himself. Either way I felt if he had passed right the shot would have been made. Luther wide open + clutch situation = 3 pointer. If something is going to "happen soon" with Bonzi it can't really be a trade. Unless CD considers early-mid January "soon".
Yao is refereed differently from any player in the league; this is an ongoing outrage. There are a billion plus people in China, many of them love Yao, and they are a huge economic block. There are millions of us who love him here. Stern and the NBA understand one thing, MONEY. PUT THE PRESSURE ON!!!!!
He passed left to Alston...who had just nailed an open 3...but Alston was tightly covered this time and barely able to catch the pass that had to be high to avoid the steal. Overall, great D by Minnesota. Luther's man (who dropped down a little to prepare to help on TMac) was ready to run out to Luther. Luther would have had to catch and shoot that quickly. But with a perfect pass on the numbers, that would have been interesting to watch.
I heard it also, you could take it either way. CD was very vague which concerns me. I think if he thought Bonzi was on the right track, he would have said so or been more positive. Maybe the decisison is up to JVG so CD really isn't sure. I still can't believe Bonzi isn't taking this golden opportunity seriously. There's still hope I suppose.
I think the 2nd tech on Steve Francis in the Utah game where he had 27 points just after half was the worst technical foul I had ever seen. Joey Crawford blew that one. DD
Funny, my memory is of McGrady taking a shot from the top and not passing to Luthe on the corner. Hmm...something is amiss. Perhaps that was a mythical dream so tangible that I projected it onto my Rockets reality which has left me in perpetual perplexity.
Crawford is a guy that looks for a reason to tech guys, to the point that he won't walk away from an upset player but will fan the flames. Complete ego maniac that wants to be a part of the game. Steve Javie's another one that 'wants' to hand the techs out. Evan
a little off topic but remember when barkley used to point out the illegal defense when he used to back down on his defender? i know its different but i wish yao would get smacked in the face (like he always does) and just turn and stare down the official....its ok to pick up that technical...
That wasn't a playoff game during a championship run, though. The worst technical foul by far was in the two rapid-fire technicals on Drexler in the 1995 playoffs by Jake O'Donnell against the Phoenix Suns. It was so bad, the NBA benched O"Donnell for the rest of the playoffs, and he never officiated another NBA game after that.
Wow, I had never thought of that or seen that before. You made my day. That guy certainly was a blight in my mind. To derail the thread a bit, HeyPee, who on this team do you like that you think doesn't get enough credit? Who is your Mobley or Kenny on this team?
