Didn't talk the team that much

    ABOUT THE DRAFT DAY TRADE.
Got to #8 and their people didn't feel there was anyone that would be a star. Only other player they considered was Thabo Sefolosha. If he becomes a star, then they can go back and re-think what they should have done.

    ABOUT BATTIER.
Battier brings shooting, which they severly lacked.

Can play the 3 and 4. Hard to find a player that has the skill and talent level to do that. Can guard multiple positions, tremendous helep defender and makes big plays.

    ABOUT TEAM USA.
Talked about how they have put together the USA team, yada, yada.

If playing in the World Championships caused players to struggle in the NBA season, joked that he wished there were more Mavs and Spurs players playing in it.

    ABOUT ARENA ATMOSPHERE.
Their players have made comments time and time again about the lack of atmosphere and crowd, so instead of complaining, he is doing something about it by buying the 50 tickets for each game.

Joked about his mood and how he tells the truth, and how people percieve his demenour.

Liked the team they had last year because, despit the losing, they all came to play and gave consistent energy.

We are going to see "happy go lucky" JVG this season. LOL!!

BASICALLY JUST WAS THERE TO PROMOTE THE TICKET GIVEAWAY

Thanks, and a better synopsis than the other thread, even though it was first.

What's to cheer about when your starting lineup is Alston-Head-Bogans-Howard-Deke? Not only were we losing, we didn't have any star players, and the it was still JVG ball.

Nothing special that I heard, they kept advertising the 50 Rox tix, of which 30 go to loud fans this Saturday morning from 9a - 1p, 10 are for upgrading loud fans during the game, and the remaining 10 are to be given out to loud fans before each game. JVG seemed like he was in a "not as grumpy mood"

Oh hey, sure we only won 34 games last year and rarely had T-Mac and Yao on the floor together, and even less rarely played exciting ball (I know, I have season tickets and go to most games), but let's expect people to shell out serious money and be fanatics anyway...

Try making it out of the first round of the playoffs more than once every decade!

Anyone understand what he was saying about not looking at the trade as far as battier vs. rudy gay developing?

I think its pretty damn sad that the Coach of the Rockets is willing to buy tickets in order to fill the damn stands...

Everyone gripes about Van Gundy but I think the guy is right for this team and he knows what we need.

I hate the damn owner and wish he would sell it to somebody like a Mark Cuban type.. Someone willing to show how much they feel about the game..

Les at least 1 once a month have a game ( Maybe playing against the sorriest team ) Where ticket is half price... I would love to be able to afford tickets at courtside...

True fans who scream like crazy mad men are at the upper bowl with binoculars :(

Rockets games have turned into pathetic social events...its like going to a bar.

People seem like they are there to be seen. Countless people just walk around the whole time. Young people showing off their garb, business men showing off their trophy girlfriends, and people stay in the food court most of the game. ITS A JOKE.

Its because there is nothing to do in the city but spend money.

Its also because the nba caters to a different culture than the other sporting events, a culture sadly the majority seems out of touch with.

It took a Super Bowl to bring pride in downtown Houston, and it will take a while of winning to bring rocket pride back to the masses.

well i admit that the environment in the toyota center isnt great, but that arena is its own worst enemy. There is simply too much there and basketball is almost a side act.

But dont be fooled by the higher price ticket holders that get all the camera time on the lower level. There are some good fans in the upper level.

and...pride in downtown houston started before the superbowl came here

The Rockets must really be getting desperate with ticket sales. I just got an email offering me a free trip to Miami (they pay for air fare, hotel, and ticket to game vs Heat) if I purchased season tickets. Also, one of the reps called my cell phone earlier. All this after I bought the cheapest mini-plan a couple years back.

They're struggling, to say the least. I've had tickets regularly for 13 years, and the product on the floor was the most abysmal I've had to sit through (edging out the Steve&Cat show the year before Yao).

Mister Van Gundy admitted he paid "about what his pool cost to install" for the thirty season tickets and twenty upgrades.

Nice pools in Houston run about $35K.

    Splitting roughly 75/25, that's $26K/9K.

$26K for 30 season tickets. Less than $1K per season ticket. Less than $20 per game per ticket.

Assuming these are lower deck seats (which they'd have to be, since one is presumably upgrading into the section), it is safe to classify "full face value or anywhere near" as a myth.
