Just a heads up, but Fridays and 8 a.m. they will be having a Rockets Insider segment where they will be rotating Dennis Lindsey, Carrol Dawson, Darryl Morey and sometimes JVG.

Today was Lindsey. I was in the car, so I didn't get to write any of this down or type it out here while he talked, so I'll do the best I can to recap what I remember.

1)First off, John asked about Bonzi. Now, I've been probably in the minority in thinking that the situation is no where near as bad as many here make it out to be and he will play soon, play well and all will be forgotten.

Lindsey talked about how they are "evaluating the situation" and it would obviously make them feel better if he can get back on the court.

He then said, "Sometime as an organization, you do the right things, and they just do not work out."

That was a pretty ominous statement I thought and didn't make me feel very good about the prospects of Bonzi making a contribution to the team.

    2) Talked a lot about how they are still trying to come together with all the new faces.

    3) One of the best teams in defense efficiency.

    4) Studying JVG, you know he is VERY big on attention to every detail and his teams get incrimentally better as the season goes on which bolds well for this team as the season goes on.

    5) Shane's presence has really helped a lot, is and has always been in the league's best in the category of taking charges.

    6) With Yao and TMac taking away so many offensive possessions, it's good to have guys like Battier and Hayes to excel at all the "hustle plays".

    7) Yao has always been above the league average in rebounding at his position but, because of his stamina that reduced is minutes, his numbers never reflected that until now.

    8) TMac has always been a slow starter and still trying to come back after only playing 41 games last year.

    9) Talked about Tmac's jumper. Said typically, when a player is shooting it constantly after reaching the apex of his jump, it means the are getting the ball in the "load area" too late to begin with which is what he feels is happening to TMac right now. Didn't sound concerned that he couldn't come out of it and actually said that TMac's jumper goes through this at times. Referenced a jump shot to that of a baseball swing in that a player's timing is almost everything.

    10) They have a new system that Darryl Morey brought to the organization that calculates and keeps track of the quality of shots (where and contested or not) the team, each player and the opposition is getting. Said TMac is the best in the league at creating quality shots in the half court.

Anyway, that's all I can remember right now. Maybe others can fill in some blanks or add to what I mentioned above.

I heard this too, but not much more as I guess I got in a little earlier than you.

He definitely didn't add a lot of hope to the Bonzi situation. It sounded like he was trying to put a positive spin on the whole thing, but it came off very weak. I came away from those comments believing that it's every bit as bad as we feared, and maybe even worse.

    :(

I'm pretty much resigned to the belief that Bonzi is done as a Houston Rocket.

Now the question will be where the fault primarily lies:
    - Management for bringing him in the first place?
    - JVG for demanding a certain attitude and physical condition before he gets playing time?
    - Bonzi for not putting forth the effort required to get himself on the court?

Darn, I wanted to see Bonzi play as a rocket. i hope they can get something for him on the trade market.

it is also good to hear someone on the inside who is willing to speak cannidly; say that t-mac should be ok.

Bonzi must be a fool, he is blowing any chance of a big pay day. No team will want sign this guy if the Rockets cut him. Dumba$$ fool.
We won't need him anyway if Sura comes back as planned.

I just don't understand Bonzi. This is his opportunity to shine before his next contract. I really thought he'd come in here and light it up all things considered. I don't blame JVG at all. If he's held his players to a certain standard, and Bonzi hasn't met those standards, well then so be it. I'm sure there are a lot of teams that wouldn't have taken Bonzi because of these very same reasons. We took a chance and so far it hasn't worked out. I'm still holding hope that he gets it together because I'm confident he puts us over the top.

I seriously doubt we'll agree. But I "blame" not giving Mike James a (potential) $950K trade kicker. And before that, not seeking a SnT with TOR for the TE + a future so that they'd still have a full MLE after acquiring James.

In retrospect, that looks like the better choice.

But before preseason, I was happy with the decisions made by management. I had concerns about Bonzi's attitude, but I felt the potential benefits outweighed the risks. Didn't think it would turn into such a fiasco. That's why I don't blame management decisions so much here.

I thought JVG interviewed the guy. He should have let him know what is he expecting from him and don't come up with all these expectations after the guy has signed the contract.

Mike James is not playing well plus he takes ill advised shots and to many of them. I think they lucked out by not locking him up for three years him.

I would be supremely upset if the Rockets failed to reach WC Final this year because JVG couldn't get significant contribution from Bonzi. But then again the way the team has been playing IMO it hardly resembles a title contender. Considering Bonzi is more likely to jump the ship than to stay with the Rockets at the end of the season, I am kind of numb about his state of welfare.

Nevertheless, JVG's inability to handle a gifted player with some alleged attitude problem is the bigger concern for this franchise. This is like the Swift situation all over again, with the magnitude getting multiplied. You have to ask what are the odds that any NBA talent is willing to come to play for the Rockets for cheap, if JVG remains the head coach?
