Marc Vandemeer said Rafer practiced today will most likely play tommorrow against the Golden State Warriors.

Sports 610: Rafer Alston back at practice

Rafer Alston practiced today and he's probable for the GS game.

i know, i know, we talkin' 'bout practice but hey this is good news, the wounded are slowing starting to come back.

Barry and Anderson should are in line to come back next.

Guess we won't ever see Lucas III in a game now that Alston is back. Like to see Lucas given a chance as the primary backup to Rafer because Luther and Wesley are clearly not PG's and Moochie dribbles too much.

I can't wait to see Rafer plug into the offense. Now that Yao's out, Rafer should become more of a scoring option.

I think that Moochie is a decent backup PG in the NBA. I doubt that Lucas is better than him.

I agree and I think that Mooche has shown some improvement this year, still dribbles a bit too much for my taste but still think he's gotten better

The real development here is that Marc Vandemeer knows who Rafer Alston is.

John Lucas was a solid point guard and playmaker at OSU, and he wanted the ball in the clutch!! He usually came through too. I see him as an effective back-up behind Rafer, but he size might be a factor in the NBA.

Give him a chance, and lets see how he does!

Finally, some good news (I guess).

Does that mean Lutha is going to lose out on some minutes? :(

If Rafer dunks from the free throw line like he used to be able to, then I'd say yes.

Ah good news at last. Now Wes can slide back to SG, Tmac to the 3 and Head can come of the bench for a spark. Already our depth has improved just that little bit. Ofcourse if none of them can hit a jump shot i guess it don't matter anyway right?

Remember it will take some time for Rafer to get into basketball shape and find his groove. I don't expect him to be very effective right away. But it won't take much to be a better PG than Wesley or Luther. Hopefully when he gets up to full speed his outside shot will come out of hibernation.

Just getting a guy in the lineup that has speed on the perimeter, and has the ability to drive and create their own shot to me is HUGE. I am not expecting any miracles with the return of Alston, but considering what we have it is much needed!

Funny how signing a hot young PG that was tearing up the D-league helps the veterans heal a little faster.
