I'm new to sports betting, but there is something I've always wondered about. In the first two weeks of college football, most highly-ranked teams play "cupcake" teams which basically insures them an automatic win. Why wouldn't you just bet the money line on these games?
You can, but you usually have to bet like $90 just to win $10. I know people that parlay 8-9 of them together, but the payout still is not that great and all you need is one crazy upset to lose
Alot of games with heavy favorites don't even offer the money line option. Generally the game has to have a narrower spread.
I remember winning a money line bet when a very bad Ok St team beat a vastly superior OU team.....I won like 150 bucks and risked like cheeseburger money. I don't think I would want to be on the other side of something like that though. Risking 150 for the chance to win 30
reminds me of that Cricket match or whatever it was in Australia where the other team was up by so much that for the other team to come back it would have had to pull off a comeback of Frank Reich proportions and then some. Some people put down thousands of dollars on a razor thin moneyline and watched all their money go down the drain.
you can. it's just you are risking much more than you can actually win. on a side note... can anyone tell me why Notre Dame is only a 7 point favorite at Georgia Tech? did Brady Quinn die?
It's a road game, and Brady Quinn doesn't play defense. A college football game on the road against a major conference opponent is always tough. And there are legitimate questions as to whether Notre Dame has championship level speed defensively. ND will probably win, but I'm betting it'll be a good game.
