This is not the fantasy version where they base it on their stats. Steve Francis is ranked at #5 in the top point guards in the NBA.
    Here's a link:

Stupidly, they placed Andre Miller at #4, he hasn't even proven anything much yet!!

    5. Steve Francis, Rockets
The lowdown: Stevie Franchise is uncommonly good. He can score from anywhere on the court, dish to teammates and just plain scare an opponent when he's pushing the ball up the court.
Stat fact (2000-01 season): Francis became the 18th player in NBA history to lead his team in points, rebounds and assists in the same season.
Did you know? Francis played just one season of high school basketball and started just one game.

The triple double Either Steve Francis or Baron Davis will record five triple doubles.

All-Star logjam Each conference will have plenty of candidates for the starting point guard spot in the All-Star Game. Look for Jason Kidd to get the nod in the Eastern Conference and for Stephon Marbury, Steve Nash and Steve Francis to battle for the nod in the Western Conference.

Thats sad. How many points does Steve have to average in order to get some respect. How can they put Andre Miller ahead of Steve? I can name 5points that are better than Miller (Van Exel,B.Davis,Cassell, Bibby, and Brandon)

    What horrible rankings.

Miller's game is very limited, mainly because his shooting range doesn't extend further than 17 ft, and he's not an athletic PG.

Also, Payton is a better set-up guy than Kidd??? Excuse me, but Kidd has made players like Cliff Robinson, Rodney Rogers, and Shawn Marion look good.

Who exactly does Payon make better in Sea?

What a crock that Marbury is ahead of Francis. I wonder how many PPG Marbury would have if he had to shoulder the load that Franchise does with us. It's easy to score 27 ppg when you shoot it 30 times.

THere is only one pg in the nba that is better than stevie, he is Jason Kidd, however, i think francis will definitely take over that spot in a year or so.:D

The funny part about the Andre Miller thing is Steve usually blows up when he plays in Cleveland.

yeah id have to say Jason number one, payton #2 (in my oppinion he can still control the flow of a game, the essential criteria for any point guard), and Steve.... three.

I'M NOT RIPPING, BUT MILLER IS PRETTY GOOD. HIS GAME IS VASTLY UNDERRATED BECAUSE HE DOESN'T DUNK ON PEOPLE. IF I WERE RATING PG, I WOULD RATE FRANCIS BEHIND PAYTON,KIDD, AND CASSELL. FRANCIS WOULD HAVE AVG MORE THAN 8 ASST IF RUDY WOULDN'T HAVE HAD THOSE STUPID ISO'S SO MUCH. I KNOW PEOPLE AREN'T GOING TO AGREE WITH CASSELL OVER FRANCIS, BUT ANSWER ME THIS, IN THE LAST MOMENTS OF THE GAME, LAST 2 OR 3 MINUTES WHO WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE WITH THE BALL? I DO BELIEVE HE IS THE BEST YOUNG PG OUT THERE THOUGH.

Andre miller over Steve Francis? Im sorry but Steve is a bona fide star and Andre Miller is never going to be more than a Mookie Blaylock type . I agree with Marbury , Payton and Kidd have a slight edge over Steve but He is better than Andre Miller any day of the week .

I was surprised as everyone else at the Miller over Francis thing. You can email the writer of the article at sstewart@sportingnews.com and share your arguements. I already wrote him once.

I think it's a matter of preference for this guy. No slight to Miller, but I'm not sure there's one gm in the league who would pick Miller over Steve. As a matter of fact, I think Baron Davis may be better than Miller. But, to his credit, Miller is a throwback. I think a lot of people overrate him because of that.

BTW, vote for STevie in that poll. :)

J-Kidd is the best pure PG in the league...GP can still kick it when he wants to...My prediction is that Francis' scoring and rebounding will dip but he's assists total will be up...i do believe that he will become a better passer and more mature ball handler now that there is a younger crew to run with along with a Glen Rice to kick it out to.

he minimizes he's TOs and tech fouls and sees how the rocks become a better team, he'd get more props from all those haters.

I think Francis' rebounding totals will still be in the 6-7 range. We didn't add a Rodman or anything.

PPG will probably go down since we got Rice.

I just pray we get rid of the ISOs.

Those iso's were horrible. Imagine if we had some motion and picks being set. Can you picture a guy chasing Mobley through picks? Or a guy fighting through and coming to francis off balance? I don't agrre with the zones, but at least we don't have to worry about those bull$..t iso's. I think after the league see the horrible scores, the zone will be banned like a 2Live Crew album.

lee-Agreed 110%. I too, imagined Cat being a b!tch to defend off of picks away from the ball. If Reggie Miller can elude SG's Cat can too. The thing is, how quick of a release does Cat have on his shot? I'm not so sure if I'd want him to make a living off of catching and shooting. However, I'd love to see him go off picks while cutting the basket. With his finishing ability, he would thrive.
