    New Heat PF Antoine Walker was lucky Miami was interested in him and that he got $54 million over six years from the team.

    One general manager says Boston would not have re-signed Walker for anything more than the midlevel exception, adding, "There really wasn't anyone else interested in him, from what I have heard." ...

    Toine is a complete loser. He was r****ded when he played for the Mavs. This was a typical sequence in the playoffs with Toine:

    - Walker comes down, throws up a prayer from 25 feet out. Airball
    - Pass to Walker's man who is open for a dunk
    - Nash to Walker who turns it over
    - Walker's man with another dunk

    What a winner.

    Wow...

    I can't believe teams think he's an actual NBA player. He freaking sucks! :eek:

    When the Rockets play the Heat, I hope they give it to him in the waning seconds so he can just jack it up from 50 feet! :D

    Assuming Wade gets a max extension, the Heat could go into some major cap issues, especially if Shaq gets hurt.

    Shaq=20M
    Walker=10M
    Haslem=7M
    Wade=14M (assuming)

    That's already 51M locked up in 4 players.

    They inflated his salary only to make the S&T for Williams and Posey work.

    Otherwise, they'd have signed him for the MLE.

    If Walker is in Miami past the summer of 2007 I'd be shocked -- this trade was for James Posey. Like foodworld said, they were going after Walker for something entirely cheaper until West got involved. The Amnesty Rule changes everything for teams these days, even if it means the numbers still count against the cap.

    Boston got spare parts, two picks, and heaps of goodwill from agents and potential free agents from around the NBA. Jerry West got Williams and Posey's salary off his books for the price of Jones for two years, Miami got their wing depth, a point guard who can bring the ball past the halfcourt line (which is all they need), and the rights to a player who they were going to sign anyway.

    You're right, I mean everybody knows that the NBA is littered with 28 year old, All Stars, who average 20 points and 9 rebounds a game !

    I mean, for 9 million dollars, they could have gotten someone of Mo Taylor or Derek Anderson's pedigree

    :rolleyes:

    no, better yet !

    do you people realize that Jerome James just got $5 million per year....

    If the NBA only employed players message board types thought were cool and didn't "suck balls," there would only be three teams.

    I mean, after reading post after post about how much Kevin Garnett sucks ... geesh.

    Walker still sucks. Just because Mo Taylor and Derek Anderson might have been even more overpaid doesn't mean Walker isn't still a loser :).

    Agreed, Walker will not pan out in Miami, just like he didn't in Dallas.

    Agreed. That's not a fair comparison. Those deals were struck under a different economic regime. Under the current CBA, no team in their right mind would sign Mo Taylor or Derek Anderson to those deals. And no team would do the same for 'Toine unless there were other motivations (like matching salaries for sign and trade purposes).

    Walker did get overpaid (again), and might be more prominently featured in the lineup than he deserves (because of said contract), and he definitely has his flaws and is often a detriment to team chemistry, but he doesn't suck.

    Maybe they're going to waive him on August 15 to get out from under that bad contract. ;)

    What a rediculous contract. Florida teams just don't get it.

    I'm not a Walker fan but to say a guy who puts up 20 and 9 getting $9Mill is overpaid I have to disagree with. I don't think Miami needs him, but his production justifies his salary. Considering that Cuttino got $8mill this summer, Joe Johnson got close to the Max, and what other guys got, I really don't see how you could say he's overpaid. Plus he's a good passer. The guy maybe a ballhog and a chucker, but he is a very skilled player.

    I still think Walker could be an asset for a team - a lot of players seem to change a bit as they get older and want a title more (instead of just being a good player on a terrible team) - if he goes to a team and buys into the philosophy of the team, then he has the natural talent to make that team better.

    Then again, there are players who never change.

    But - DAMN, THAT'S A BIG CONTRACT.

    Boston was out of the playoff picture until Walker came back ~ fair deal for the resume he brings.

    He's better than Shareef Abur Rahim!
    You dont hear Miami or the Rockets wanting that guy. At least Walker made the playoffs! Shareef just wants the PAY offs!

    You got my back man

    ... I personnaly don't like Walker, but he is a 20 and 9 guy with playoff experience - he will do well in Miami

    - he stunk it up in Dallas b/c he played the same position as Dirk...
