'To put the shot distribution in proper perspective, consider that sixth-man Mobley has taken more shots (248) than starters Anderson (106) and Williams (138) put together.

Move the ball. Hit the open man. Get everyone involved. Heaven may be a playground, but the NBA isn't supposed to be. And until Francis and Mobley learn to play well with others, the Rockets are going to be a wildly erratic team. '

That's a really good article but I have abit more faith in Mo then he has! But I'd say I'd rather have Moe from the Simpsons to play the PF. At least if he didn't grab boards he'd grab us a few beers! [IMG]

I thought it was more interesting that Stevie and Cat missed the team charter to Sacramento.

Steve Francis, along with Cuttino Mobley, missed the team's charter flight to Sacramento and wound up taking a commercial flight. He was fined, but this is something you don't like to see from the guy who's supposed to be the team leader.

Is this the first time Stevie and Cat have missed a plane/been late to practice/etc? Is is this the first time they've gotten in trouble TOGETHER?

I've never thought Francis and Mobley were freezing out their teammates during games, but I don't like to see 'em miss planes together.

this reminds me...who remembers the hypothetical/rhetorical by Dreamshake about the 3 on 2 fastbreak..."who does Francis pass to."

From the Seattle game...So, on a 2 and nothing fastbreak with Francis leading it, who does he pass to?

Mobley trailing the play for a playground slam. Those two just don't know how to "play well with others".

    Heyp I saw that too.
I was thinking are we padding each other stats
an Asst and 2 pts etc.
Or is this just having fun

It struck me odd because I was looking forward
to a FRANCIS SLAM as oppose to the Cuttine
    Cut Rate slam
[he is not the high light steve is]

    Bobrek,

I agree with the premise he should have taken it in himself, I was just pointing out that he won't be able to please everyone all the time.

    Rocket River,

I wasn't tryin' to diss ya. I'd rather see a Francis dunk over a Cut Rate dunk any day. [IMG]

Frankly, I agree with the Surgeon of Kerplunk.

At some point we have to be satisfied and realize also, that this game can have a fun component without need of criticism.

They were probably having fun, so who cares. If they weren't having fun but padding someone's stats, who cares.

If the situation was: Cuttino was being covered and Francis opted to pass to him anyway, I would be commenting about his lack of game focus. Or, lack of proper ball control,or poor play selection.

I would have been very dissatisfied. But those things didn't enter into it, and so I was not disatisfied.

As it is ... 9it made me think .... mmmmmm a little odd (as RR said), but otherwise no complaints from me.

My previous post does not make sense to me. And I wrote exactly what I wanted to say.

But it is odd in Dennis Miller sort of way.

    I think I'm dysl .... dysphor ... dysfunc .... aw hell ... I'm not thinking straight today!

Oeilpere: I know that the play itself wasn't problematic, but I think quite a few of us are afraid of the Rockets dissolving into cliques... as in, Francis and Mobley vs everyone else.

When you're afraid of something, everything you look at has a tendency of appearing confirmation... but still... I wish that they would give us a sign that this *isn't* happening.

How about Francis (+40% from long range) standing wide open in the corner at the end of the quarter and Mobley refusing to pass him the ball when he's clearly asking for it? Mobley, of course, missed the shot while being covered.

At least we know it's not a Francis-Mobley clique. Maybe Mobley's in a clique by himself. [IMG]

this 2 on Nothing fastbreak seems to have inspired some game play analysis.

Should I mak it the Flash clutchplay #3 with full analysis so we have a reference point for further discussion?

I've learned from my years rooting for Rice that satisfication can be found in the lights and sound of a game, as long as the players have a will to win. I will forever be satisfied with just being at the game and watching us trying to win. The "fun component" is witnessing pro basketball players compete with each other.

Be glad our team always fights and rarely complains with each other. Losing can't possibly hurt us more than it does them. Enjoy the game. We've got nothing to lose but a fantansy bball game or a bbs argument.

I sincerely feel that "the" 2-0 fastbreak was played right and was honestly just Francis being unselfish. The long pass had Francis catching it with his back to the basket I believe, he sees a teammate, gives it up unselfishly to his teammate. I really think no matter who the other man is on that play Francis gives it up due to his attitude and to his position(on the court, and as a point guard). This can just go beyond thinking, to stupidity...we shouldn't over think every little play.

Seems I always hear in order to get your teammates going, try getting them an easy layup or shot. Good play on Steve's part...mainly because absolutely no one was trailing, none of the Sonics were hussling back. And fun is a big part of it, who really cares about padding stats(Mobley? [IMG]). I seem to remeber a Jason Kidd pass off the backboard for a Marion dunk on a fastbreak....no harm(unless you miss the dunk hehe)...

Even though Steve could of scored, in that situation, that was the best play...psychology..

    The guy just can't win.

On a 2-0 fast break, if he takes it up for the jam, somebody would call him selfish/showboating. He instead passes off to a teammate and he's still being selfish.

What's he supposed to do that would've made everyone happy on that play? Swallow the ball?

DoD - In any 2-0 case whoever has the ball should take it to the hoop, especially when they are leading the play. Too many things can happen on the pass and only one of them is good.

It did make Francis' stats look better in the end. It was one of his 10 assists, but I would have preferred that he take the shot himself.
